Tomorrow.io is hiring a

Senior AI&T Engineer

Golden, United States

Tomorrow.io’s Space & Sensors team is responsible for the development of unique RF-based sensing systems, such as radar, radiometer and sonar, from architecture through implementation. The team is also responsible for the development of corresponding spacecraft and constellations in support of Tomorrow.io’s Operation Tomorrow Space, which will collect data to be integrated seamlessly into our existing forecasting and modeling systems, revolutionizing global weather intelligence.

We are looking for a Senior AI&T Engineer to join a cutting edge, multidisciplinary team to help us execute complex development programs.  Applications include, but are not limited to, weather and climate remote sensing, navigation and situational awareness, as well as enabling the most capable weather intelligence platform in the world.  As a Senior AI&T Engineer at Tomorrow.io, you will play a critical role in hardware and sensor development through all phases of the development cycle: requirements gathering and definition, design, development, prototyping, implementation, testing, integration, calibration, and documentation.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the development of assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) strategies for innovative new satellite and radar technologies at scale
  • Contribute to the creation of world-class weather satellites, airborne-based instruments, and ground-based sensing hardware
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, RF hardware, software, systems and test engineers within small engineering design teams
  • Assess risks associated with different integration and test approaches and clearly communicate mitigation and trade-offs
  • Develop and Execute Test Procedures using Test Like You Fly (TLYF)
  • Work with environmental testing houses to coordinate and perform environmental testing of satellite subsystems and assemblies

What you bring:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Technical Discipline with multiple roles open at varying levels of seniority and experience. 7+ years minimum relevant experience or M.S. degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with 5+ years minimum relevant experience
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills and ability to work well collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Experience with satellites or satellite subsystems
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the satellite system design life cycle, including spacecraft level environmental testing and launch environments
  • A strong systems perspective in understanding the relationship between subsystems; requirements, ICDs, design for manufacturing, etc.
  • A self-starting leadership approach to apply strong analytical and problem solving skills to operate both as an individual contributor and as owner of a design.
  • Experience with writing, performing, and documenting tests
  • Experience with environmental testing (Vibration, TVAC, EMI, Radiation)
  • Experience organizing test campaigns from initial idea to completion
  • Familiarity with aerospace testing standards such as GEVS, etc.
  • Experience using software to test (python preferred)
  • Experience designing or building harnesses for flight or test
  • Experience setting up GSE for testing
  • Breadth of experience in manufacturing and integration cost reduction and schedule management
  • Experience with RF and/or sonar system assembly, integration, and test

So if your passion is to design a cutting edge next-generation RADAR to provide weather intelligence to the world and have fun while doing so, then this team is for you.

If you have reached this point and you are super excited but not sure you check all the boxes - we still want to speak with you! Your passion is priceless. Other things can be learned.
