Senior Accounting Manager

Catbird, a DTC luxury jewelry brand, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our company's finance team. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The position is ideally hybrid in our Brooklyn, NY HQ but for candidates out of state, we are open to a fully remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure the integrity of the company’s accounting systems and compliance with GAAP
  • Manage month end financial close process (including cash reconciliations, proper review/maintenance of account reconciliations and accruals)
  • Ensure timely preparation, distribution and review of monthly/quarterly financial statements for management and Board presentations
  • Stay current on, research and document new accounting rules that will impact the company; research and support the company’s position on various accounting matters
  • Directly oversee the accounts payable function while serving as coach and mentor to existing team members
  • Drive continuous improvements in the company’s accounting processes and financial/business controls
  • Manage and support the annual audit process (including audit planning, preparation, support, and implementing ongoing process improvements)
  • Assist with the benchmarking and setting of various financial and/or operational metrics; help develop and maintain metrics and reports to assist with management financial oversight
  • Ensure timely completion of compliance reporting activities
  • Partner with the various budget owners to review monthly financial results and variances; and adopt strategies to influence operational behavior

Our Ideal Candidate

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance, CPA optional
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution company required
  • 2+ years of experience in a management role
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes and controls
  • Proficiency in technical accounting research and memo writing and financial reporting strongly preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Ability to learn new concepts and technologies quickly
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence diverse groups and teams in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills including task prioritization and effective time management
  • Excellent analytical skills and a strong attention to detail
