Senior Accounting Consultant

Role

As a Senior Accounting Consultant, you’ll be expected to draw from experience in the asset finance industry including software implementations to help internal teams and Customers configure the Odessa Platform to meet the business and accounting needs of Customers. You’ll partner with the customer to align on a shared vision of the solution and act as a senior advisor on solution acceptance and adoption, ensuring they are using the Odessa Platform to its fullest potential while following relevant financial and accounting standards and practices.

You’ll also be collaborating with and providing guidance to Solution Architects and Analysts working on the projects as well as work alongside senior stakeholders such as Customer Delivery Executives, Customer Partners and Delivery Manager.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze customers’ chart of accounts and accounting/ business processes to determine General Ledger Configuration needs
  • Prepare financial related platform configuration by mapping general ledger accounts and creating relevant receivables, payables, and other configurations
  • Train customers on system functionality related to general ledger and accounting processes
  • Consult on accounting matters related to journal entries, system calculations, and procedures for transaction processing
  • Assist customers in establishing reconciliation and month end close processes
  • Assist project teams in defining financial/accounting related customer requirements
  • Assist with data migration including field mapping and financial reconciliation
  • Provide accounting support to customers during user acceptance testing and post-go live
  • Lead practice improvement initiatives that span across financial and accounting related topics and processes
  • Create internal documentation related to accounting and general ledger topics to foster standardization across the organization
  • Mentor Solution/Business Architects and Analysts

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience working in the equipment leasing/asset finance industry in an accounting related role

Desired

  • Experience implementing or working with financial ERP software systems that includes:
    • Leading or consulting on business configuration, including general ledger configuration
    • Engaging in accounting-intensive discussions with clients
    • Leading or consulting on data migration
  • Ability to resolve/diffuse conflict and be comfortable in tense situations
  • Experience leading change initiatives
  • Desire to improve the quality of both client-facing and internal documentation
  • Ability to travel at key points throughout the implementation process
