We are seeking a highly competent Senior Accounting Analyst who will report to the Senior Manager in North America Controllership.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of our accounting team, responsible for a variety of accounting activities including month-end close and reporting, as well as conducting in-depth analysis and research of technical accounting issues.
This role requires a candidate with a strong grasp of GAAP, the capability to develop and implement processes to increase operational efficiency, the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and the initiative to address operational accounting issues.
The ideal candidate will possess a heightened sense of ownership and urgency in their work.
The position is based in Foster City, CA, and requires on-site attendance three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at Visa’s Foster City office.
- Analyze, interpret, and record financial transactions, and report this information.
- Research and document conclusions on accounting issues with references to GAAP pronouncements.
- Complete complex account reconciliations and journal entries to support the monthly close process.
- Work with project managers and finance business partners on internally developed software (ASC 350-40) initiatives.
- Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting operational procedures.
- Own specific components of the North America balance sheet and income statement, review balances during month-end closing, and perform flux and other analytical reviews.
- Support the preparation and review of 10K and 10Q filings, including footnotes and disclosures related to assigned areas.
- Review emerging technology contracts for US GAAP compliance, including review of agreements for proper accounting treatment and application of revenue recognition principles.
- Regular interaction with various levels of management within and outside of Finance, internal and external audit teams, and participation in cross-functional projects.
- Maintain process documentation and ensure SOX 404 compliance for functional areas of responsibility.
- Must have a BS in Accounting or related field, CPA, and at least five to seven years of progressive professional accounting experience, preferably in a publicly-traded company and/or with a public accounting firm.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written, oral, listening and presentational skills and ability to work well under pressure and interact at all levels are also required.
- In-depth knowledge and recent experience with application of ASC 350-40.
- Strong technical, quantitative and analytical skills
- Proficient with Oracle or similar enterprise accounting system
- Background with continuous improvement methodologies, driving increases in efficiency / effectiveness
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Capable of handling multiple tasks, possess good organizational, communication, and analytical skills, able to work independently, and be extremely flexible.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 118,500.00 to 171,750.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
