We are seeking a highly competent Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of accounting and financial tasks, demonstrating deep knowledge in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis. This role requires an individual with previous experience in accounting positions, ability to lead projects and work in teams, as well as a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● All aspects of accounting, the month-end close cycle, and the preparation of financial statements for each community, including supporting schedules and reconciliations.

● Coordination and delivery of the monthly, quarterly, and annual community financial statements and financial information to outside owners, financial institutions, and joint venture partners.

● Supply owners and their representatives with operating metrics and other data, as requested.

● Responsible for all aspects of training and support in the areas of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable (individual training plans for new staff and department wide training sessions).

● Will serve as a member of the training committee which will be tasked with creating and maintaining a standard training program for Staff Accountants, as well as, community-based personnel.

● Responsible for the backup of all our current accounting processes.

● Will take all calls from community-based and regional operations personnel to resolve issues, answer questions, and fill training gaps.

● Could be called on to be a temporary back-up for the AR Staff and or AP Staff if there is a vacancy in the Staff role due to illness, vacation, and or vacancy.

● Review AR packages to ensure completeness and accuracy before delivering to the Controller for review.

● Ensure proper understanding of tasks, due dates, and deliverables.

● Assist Staff Accountants as necessary to resolve issues and ensure month-end deadlines are met.

● Serve as a point of contact for community-based and regional operations personnel.

● Establish a regular line of communication to discuss issues (vs waiting for calls).

● Work with Controllers on cash management and other month-end items.

● Complete Balance Sheet reconciliations, as assigned.

● Assist with expense analysis, special requests, and reporting for owners and investors as assigned.

● Close communities.

● Assist with audit support and year-end audits, as needed.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional certification preferred.
  2. Demonstrable work experience as a senior accountant or in a similar role, preferably more than 5 years.
  3. Deep knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  4. Excellent analytical skills and ability to work with numbers accurately and in detail.
  5. Proficiency in the use of accounting software and financial analysis tools.
  6. Strong communication skills and ability to work in teams.
  7. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  8. Commitment to integrity and professional ethics in all accounting and financial activities.
