As our West Footscray based SOC Operator, you’ll be responsible for assessing, analysing, and responding to incidents related to physical safety and security for NEXTDC. Here you’ll play a critical role in maintaining the security of NEXTDC data centre facilities and be responsible for monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities.
You’ll have daily use of tools/systems (e.g. access control, CCTV, AI based risk feeds) to detect impact to our people, products, property, customers, or brand image and alert the appropriate response stakeholders. In addition, you’ll personally have a strong commitment to security with excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and high-stakes environment.
Working arrangement: 4 on 4 off roster – both day night rotation
In this role you’ll see yourself:
- Continuous remote monitoring of our security systems, including CCTV, intrusion detection systems and access control systems, to identify and respond to security threats and incidents.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, including alarms, breaches, and unauthorised access attempts following NEXTDC Incident Management Process.
- Escalate incidents as necessary and co-ordinate with necessary bodies.
- Maintain operational logs, conduct daily shift checklists, handover reports, and incident reports.
- Maintain detailed records of security incidents, actions taken, and ongoing security activities.
- Facilitate audit requests from internal and external stakeholders providing detailed information and reports as required.
About you:
- Proven experience in a security related role, preferably within the data centre or critical infrastructure environment.
- Knowledge of security systems, including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection.
- Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate concepts and ideas clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to respond quickly and calmly to emergencies and stressful situations exercising proper judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work 4 on 4 off roster – both day night rotation
- Minimum 1-year experience in a Security Operation or Command Centre role, or relatable Customer Service experience within an IT or Security related environment.
- Experience identifying anomalies in a physical environment and performing first-line investigations.
- Experience with emergency response protocols & processes
- In possession of active security licence or ability to obtain and maintain security license certification and NV1 clearance.
