Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 Durham Region Refugee Hiring Event
This position is exclusively available through the 2025 Durham Region Refugee Hiring Event. To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet all of the following criteria:
Refugee or Forcibly Displaced Status:
Arrived in Canada as a refugee (government or private sponsorship).Applied for asylum after arriving in Canada (refugee claimant/asylum seeker).Were forcibly displaced from your country of origin (e.g., individuals from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iran, and other affected regions).
Residency:
You currently live in Ontario. (Candidates living outside of Ontario/Canada will not be considered)
Event Attendance:
Be available to attend the in-person event in Ajax on April 2, 2025.
Work Eligibility:
Legally authorized to work in Canada (must possess a valid work permit, permanent residency, or Canadian citizenship).
Age Requirement:
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Location: Greater Toronto Area (Mostly Toronto)
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular patrols of the premises to identify and address security risks.
Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to detect any suspicious activity.
Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms.
Enforce access control procedures and verify the identity of individuals entering the building.
Provide excellent customer service to tenants and visitors, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally and courteously.
Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency responders when necessary.
Complete accurate and detailed incident reports as required.
Qualifications:
Valid Ontario Security Guard License and First Aid/CPR
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
Proficiency in using security equipment and technology.
High school diploma or equivalent.
