Synthesia is hiring a

Security Engineer - Corporate Security

Remote

Synthesia is the world's first AI video generation platform. It's a video production studio in a browser; no cameras, no film crews. You simply choose an avatar, enter your script, and your video is ready in minutes. We believe the future of media is synthetic, and we are on a mission to turn cameras into code and make everyone a creator. Check out our brand video to get a deeper insight into what we're working on here at Synthesia.

In engineering, we are working on a variety of ambitious projects that are critical to our mission. These range from hyper-personalized onboarding, which aims to introduce new customers to Synthesia through a low-latency, highly personalised experience, to creating our own video delivery platform. This platform, in addition to addressing typical concerns such as video transcoding and tiered storage, will allow us to offer proprietary media formats to our customers, including nonlinear and translatable video.

What you'll do at Synthesia:

We are looking for an additional team member on the Synthesia Security Team - specifically on what we like to call the Corporate Security, or “CorpSec”, team.

At Synthesia, our CorpSec and AppSec teams work hand-in-hand to ensure the highest level of security in our operations. CorpSec owns the general Security Operations, and focuses on the protection of corporate information and assets, while AppSec is concerned with the security of our applications, working extremely close to our Product engineers. Together, they collaborate to identify and mitigate security risks, share knowledge, and develop strategies for continuous improvement in our security program.

We are looking for someone who can assist us in maintaining and improving our Security and Compliance Operations efforts. Responsibilities will include:

  • Building out and maintaining Security Automation
  • Supporting our sales and legal teams in answering security questions coming from customers
  • Participating in security incident response efforts
  • Participate in compliance management related efforts (SOC2, ISO27001 and ISO42001)
  • Be a reasonable, friendly and effective internal security advocate

What we're looking for:

  • Technical know-how: You should have 4+ years of engineering experience and a good understanding of the technical aspects of security. While you don't need to be a master hacker, we are looking for someone with a technical security background.
  • Automation experience: You should have a track record of implementing automation in a security context.
  • Excellent communication skills: We are sometimes customer facing, and assist the commercial functions in answering security-related questions coming from customers and prospects.
  • AWS: You have worked professionally with AWS and have a good understanding of the various security challenges that come with that.

Welcome Extras

  • Hypergrowth startup: Have you been part of the journey for a fast-growing company? Major plus, if so!
  • Security Incident response: If you have been part of responding to actual incidents, that’s also a big plus.
  • Security platforms: Experience with any of the following is great, especially if you know how to work with the respective APIs: Okta, CrowdStrike, Vanta, Torii, Notion, Wiz.
  • Tech: Experience with Python and Terraform.
  • SIEM Experience: If you’ve implemented a SIEM solution, that is relevant!
  • DLP and data classification: Regardless of endpoint, network or SaaS-based - any experience is appreciated.
  • Compliance frameworks: If you’ve been part of a project to achieve ISO27001, SOC2 or some other security framework compliance, that’s a plus. If you were the one driving it, that’s a major plus.

At Synthesia, we expect everyone to…

  • Be an owner.
  • Focus on outcomes over inputs and plans.
  • Make the journey fun.
  • Default to simple.
