The Role: Seasonal Distribution Floor Supervisor

Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, holidays, and occasional weekends and holidays. 

Working alongside the Warehouse Management team, the Floor Supervisor oversees the daily activities for the production area and is responsible for ensuring staff are working safely, while meeting production or distribution & fulfillment requirements. Train, coach and motivate staff to ensure good morale as well as a high level of productivity. Maintain accurate staffing level to accomplish department needs. Implement initiatives aimed at improving processes, safety, and efficiencies. As a Floor Supervisor, you bring Lush’s Leadership Practices into all elements of your business:

What you do (responsibilities):

  • Supervise a team of floor staff potentially exceeding 50 staff
  • Oversee that best practices, quality standards and health and safety procedures are adhered to and any areas of concern are addressed and documented in the moment
  • Supporting with the creation, review, and sign-offs of SOPs as needed
  • Supports new or returning staff as required with onboarding, demonstrations of daily duties and responsibilities while ensuring safety and SOP guidelines are being followed
  • Report and document workplace H&S incidents to management, utilizing MyCority to submit hazard reports and near-misses
  • Organize, assign, delegate daily tasks, activities, and workflow to the team leaders
  • Oversee and monitor the pace of picking, packing, shipping, and receiving
  • Foster a high level of motivation through coaching and feedback to the team leaders
  • Perform regular 1:1s with Team Leaders and assist Team Leaders in conducting 1:1s with Distribution Associates
  • Escalate significant performance and behavioural issues to the room management team
  • Ensure smooth communication between shifts
  • Determine and facilitate what training is required for floor staff
  • Participate in performance discussions in partnership with room management
  • Oversee staff attendance, punctuality, and break periods
  • Support payroll entry and timecard verifications
  • Communicate with the Talent team as required regarding seasonal hiring
  • Review the shipping schedule/daily orders, deliveries, incoming transfer orders, and pick-ups
  • Complete Bill of Lading for rail and road Transfer Orders between Toronto and Vancouver
  • Ensure sales orders are fulfilled efficiently and to a high-quality standard
  • Complete and ensure documentation of pre-shift checklists
  • Ensure spills are cleaned up and recorded according to material-specific spill response protocol
  • Monitor pallet stock and notify management of increase/decrease of order frequency
  • Monitoring stock of and ordering of pallet wrap and shipping supplies
  • Support DEIB initiatives and communication
  • Host daily huddles and meetings as required

Distro Department Specific Responsibilities:

    • Lock out equipment and submit work order requests to MHE companies for repairs/maintenance as needed 
    • Complete daily safety checklists and racking inspections
    • Ensure keyholder duties are completed as required

Who you are (qualifications):

Required:

  • Current Lush employee
  • Previous experience working as a Team Leader or Floor Supervisor (seasonally or core)
  • Previous experience working within Distribution
  • General understanding of in-room operations (i.e. routings/metrics, processes, and distribution reporting)
  • Flexibility to work within the Distribution, Digital, and Manufacturing businesses as required
  • Confident with basic mathematics, ability to count, including addition and subtraction
  • Proven track record in training, coaching, and developing employees
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards and Occupational Health and Safety standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual and dependable
  • Able to provide and receive feedback
  • Commitment to abiding by and overseeing health & safety regulations
  • Commitment to abiding by and overseeing out quality and good manufacturing practices
  • Aware of distribution room Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) (i.e. targets, PPH)
  • Valid certification on site-specific MHE
  • Able to navigate email, MS Office Suite, and Google programs (i.e. Sheets, Chat, Meet)
  • Basic proficiency with AX
  • Accustomed to working in a highly seasonal, high pressure environment
  • Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English in order to communicate with peers and leadership on all platforms (i.e. in person, via email, via Google/Teams chat)

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a variety of rooms and departments within Lush
  • Capable of performing basic payroll functions
  • Advanced proficiency with AX
  • Comfortable with presenting and public speaking
  • Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, distribution, supply chain and/or food industries
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and processes
  • Flexible to work mornings, afternoons, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed
  • Spill response training (Distro-specific)
  • Racking inspection training (Distro-specific)
