Search Engine Marketing Manager - SEM (m/f/d)

Position Summary:

The Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing a company’s overall SEM strategy. This includes paid search advertising, remarketing, and optimization across various search engines to increase the brand’s online presence and drive qualified traffic to the website. The SEM Manager will work closely with marketing, analytics, and creative teams to align paid search efforts with broader marketing goals, ensuring effective campaign execution, performance analysis, and continuous optimization.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive SEM strategies to drive qualified traffic and maximize ROI across search engine platforms.

  • Conduct keyword research and analysis to identify new opportunities and optimize existing campaigns.

  • Manage all aspects of SEM campaigns, including budgeting, bidding, ad copy creation, and performance tracking.

  • Utilize industry tools and analytics platforms to monitor campaign performance and make data-driven decisions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content creators, designers, and developers, to align SEM efforts with overall marketing initiatives.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to ensure our SEM strategies remain innovative and effective.

  • Provide regular reporting and analysis of SEM performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of driving successful SEM campaigns and achieving measurable results.

  • In-depth knowledge of SEM best practices, search engine algorithms, and keyword research tools.

  • Proficiency with SEM platforms such as Google Ads, Bing Ads, and others.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets to inform decision-making.

  • Advance web and app tracking infrastructure knowledge. 

  • Strong knowledge of Google Ads as well as good knowledge of Google Analytics and solid Excel skills.

  • Extensive experience in campaign management and Automation

  • Strong analytical mindset and experience in processing a great amount of datasets and presenting insights.

  • Knowledge of any programming language such as python or SQL is considered to be a strong plus.

  • Google Ads certification or other relevant certifications preferred

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • You are fluent in English; additional languages such as French and German would be beneficial.

Knowledge & Skills:

SEM Expertise: Deep understanding of SEM strategies, including search, display, video, and remarketing campaigns.

Data-Driven: Proficient in analyzing campaign data and deriving actionable insights to optimize performance.

Analytical Skills: Ability to work with data and metrics, and create reports using tools like Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, or other SEM reporting platforms.

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with keyword research tools, bid management platforms, and SEM tools such as SEMrush, Moz, and Ahrefs.

Ad Copy and Landing Page Optimization: Skilled in writing compelling ad copy and collaborating on landing page design for improved conversion.

Budget Management: Experience managing large-scale SEM budgets and optimizing for cost efficiency.

Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex strategies and results to non-technical stakeholders.

Problem-Solving: Resourceful and proactive in identifying issues, troubleshooting campaigns, and finding solutions to improve performance.
