Your Impact:
As a Software Development in Test (SDET) Intern, you will be helping in building, executing, and analyzing tests with complex workloads for core database product with a vision of representing customer scenarios focusing on integration/system tests.
We are looking for a passionate student who exemplifies collaboration, is driven, excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment, and who has a strong desire to learn how to build an internet-scale, extensible control plane with an emphasis on simplicity and user experience.
You’ll work alongside the best and the brightest engineering talent in the industry, and you’ll design your changes, estimate engineering efforts, implement and test your changes, push to releases, and triage production issues.
You will:
- Design, develop, and maintain automation framework, system and functional test suites, and contribute to Database platform development
- Test the product for performance, resiliency, security, scalability, and reliability
- Fix defects identified via testing in Database platform
- Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, code paths, and overall behavioral characteristics of the products you test
- Analyze and understand existing test coverage and test cases, identifying opportunities for redesign, replacement, reusability, and improvement in efficiency and performance
- Define and inspire changes to our product with our development engineering team based on feedback from tests and customer issues
- Develop and contribute to internal and external knowledge bases, and be a champion for our customers
- Contribute to our suite of automated tests and testing infrastructure
- Go above and beyond to ensure customers are getting the most out of their investment in the Yugabyte platform
You'll need:
- Strong understanding of CS fundamentals, and how to apply them to code
- Strong programming skills with the ability to produce clear, efficient, and concise code (C++, Java, Python, etc.)
- Understanding of algorithms and data structures and how to efficiently implement them into a solution
- An understanding of SQL and/or CQL, as well as distributed systems and/or databases
- Familiarity with containers and cluster managers like Kubernetes
- Academic or professional/internship experience working in a professional coding setting is a plus
- A genuine passion for customers, with a drive to deliver a high-quality product
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Enrolled and working towards obtaining a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field
