What you’ll do

As the Screening & Transaction Monitoring Associate, you will review and report potential instances of money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), bribery, and other law violations. You will synthesize large amounts of data to make informed decisions regarding customer activity and assess the associated risks to the company. Clear communication is essential for conducting written investigations and engaging in verbal discussions with senior management about potentially suspicious activities. Experience in collaborating with external financial partners, auditors, and regulators is valuable. Adaptability to a rapidly changing regulatory and business environment is crucial, as is maintaining a positive and collaborative mindset while managing numerous cases.

Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our Salt Lake City office. You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday, starting the week of January 6th, 2025. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year, for a minimum of one week at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently monitor unusual transactions and high-risk customers in support of regulatory reporting obligations, such as filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) and Sanctions screening alerts/escalations
  • Take ownership of the success of our internal controls, spot, scope, and drive opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods in order to monitor new typologies and emerging risks
  • Lead the preparation and timely response to official inquiries, preparing internal and external memos
  • Support vendor integrations and address questions from L1 alert reviewers
  • Contribute in the efforts to reduce AML false positive rates
  • Assist in developing and delivering internal Financial Crimes training

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience across a variety of financial risk operations AML, SAR, BSA, 314a, Watchlist, 314b, Third Party Payment Processing, Sanctions, Fraud, Bribery/Corruption, Due Diligence, etc)
  • Knowledgeable about relevant US financial regulations authorities (ex: FinCEN, FINRA, OFAC, etc.)
  • Direct experience reporting and presenting to FinCEN, law enforcement, and other regulators
  • Expertise in SAR and Continuing Activity Reporting - knowledge of FinCEN reporting standards, thresholds, and deadlines
  • Technical aptitude in understanding complex money movement across payment methods.
  • Familiarity with interpreting and utilizing data analytics tools (SQL, Looker, Snowflake, Hex, Excel), including designing, debugging, and organizing data for a wide audience
  • Experience with Verafin and ComplyAdvantage
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team (Operations, Customer Experience, Legal, Engineering, Product Management, Data) in designing operational work-streams and internal control
  • Must be willing to work in office 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday

Compensation

The expected pay range for this role is $73,000 - $92,00 USD.  However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. This pay range reflects a standard work week, however, as an hourly employee if you exceed these hours, you will be paid overtime. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
