Position Overview:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lab Automation High-Throughput Screening (HTS) Associate to join our research and development team. The HTS Associate will play a critical role in supporting drug discovery and other scientific research projects by performing high-throughput screening assays using automated laboratory systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in laboratory automation, an understanding of assay development, and a passion for scientific innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

High-Throughput Screening (HTS)

  • Execute routine weekly high-throughput screening assays using automated systems.
  • Set up, run, and troubleshoot HTS instruments and robotic platforms.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and documentation during the screening processes.

Lab Automation:

  • Program, calibrate, and maintain liquid handlers, plate readers, and other automated equipment.
  • Develop and maintain automated workflows to enhance efficiency and throughput in the lab.

Data Management:

  • Perform data analysis, quality control, and validation of screening results
  • Collaborate with bioinformatics and data science teams to ensure proper data integration and interpretation.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with scientists, project leaders, and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of HTS campaigns.
  • Assist in the development and adaptation of new protocols to meet project-specific needs.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality control measures

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or in a related field
  • Master’s degree or relevant certification in laboratory automation or related field is a plus.

Experience:

  •   2+ years of experience in a laboratory setting with hands-on experience in high-throughput screening or lab automation.
  • Familiarity with automated systems such as liquid handlers, plate readers, or robotic platforms.
  • Experience in assay development and validation in an industrial or academic setting is highly desirable.

 Skills and Competencies:

  •   Strong technical skills in lab automation and HTS instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced start-up environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ELISA-based, cell-based assays, biochemical assays, or molecular screening methods.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, R, or similar).
  • Familiarity with assay optimization techniques and statistical analysis software (e.g., GraphPad, Prism).
  • Prior experience using electronic laboratory notebooks (e.g. Benchling)

Working Conditions:

  • This role will primarily involve working in a laboratory setting with standard lab equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of lab equipment (up to 25 lbs) may be required.
  • May involve exposure to chemicals or biological agents, requiring proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
