Scientist II, Assay Development & CRISPR Genome Editing

The Company:

Quotient Therapeutics, Inc. is a privately held, early-stage company developing a novel genomics platform and therapeutics for diseases with a large unmet need.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ph.D. Scientist with expertise in assay development and CRISPR genome editing to join our innovative research team. The successful candidate will lead efforts to perturbate gene of interest in primary cells and cell lines, and establish assays for biological validation, contributing to the advancement of our drug discovery programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop assays for target validation, including signaling pathways and molecules, biology readouts, and functional genomics.
  • Design and execute experiments with various gene manipulation methods, including overexpression, knockdowns, knockouts and knockins.
  • Design and develop CRISPR-based genome editing experiments to generate cell lines with specific mutations for target validation and drug screening applications.
  • Characterize edited cell lines using molecular/cellular biology techniques, including PCR, sequencing, and gene expression, and functional analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support drug discovery projects, providing expertise in CRISPR technology and genetic engineering.
  • Stay current on the latest advancements in assay development and gene perturbation technologies, and apply relevant knowledge to research projects
  • Mentor research associates and junior scientists in experimental design and data analysis.

Qualifications:

  • PhD. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field with at least 1 year of industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting (level will be adjusted according to experience)
  • Demonstrated expertise in CRISPR genome editing and genetic engineering, with a focus on introducing KO or KI on primary cells and cell lines
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques, including cell line maintenance, transfection, and selection of edited clones
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, cloning, and sequencing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry setting is preferred
