Scientist I/II, In Vivo Neurobiology
Dragonfly Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced lab-based in vivo scientist to join our growing Neurobiology team to support the advancement of our pre-clinical programs. The candidate must have extensive experience in the design, execution, and analysis of murine models used for studying neuropathic pain. Experience in molecular and cell biology techniques is highly desired. We are searching for an independent and flexible individual able to work efficiently across multiple projects. Final position level will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Design and execute in vivo studies utilizing a variety of murine models designed to simulate human neuropathies, primarily neuropathic pain, to assess PK/PD and efficacy of small molecules and biologics.
- Utilize molecular and cell biology techniques (such as immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, MSD, Luminex, cell culture, etc.) to understand the PD response and further elucidate disease biology
- Keep up with scientific literature to support current programs and nominate potential new indications for the growing Neurobiology pipeline
- Support the In Vivo Team broadly, by assisting in Oncology and Immunology in vivo studies, as needed
- Maintain proper scientific documentation in an electronic lab notebook and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
- Generate, analyze, interpret, organize, and report experimental data
Qualifications:
- PhD with 1-4 years of experience or BS/MS with 4+ years of relevant in vivo research experience, industry experience a plus
- Extensive hands-on experience with developing, designing, executing, and analyzing in vivo models of neuropathic pain is required. Additional experience with autoimmune disease, subcutaneous tumor models, and/or humanized mouse models is a plus
- Expertise with relevant surgical techniques, behavioral testing and scoring, murine dosing (PO, IP, IV, SC routes), animal identification and randomization, blood draws by tail vessel micro-sampling and cardiac puncture, and tissue collection at necropsy
- Proficiency with generating primary cell culture models, including primary neurons, astrocytes, microglia cells, and Schwann cells is a plus
- Experience with immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry/FACS, protein analysis, and cell culture
- Proficiency with data analysis methods and software (e.g. FlowJo, Excel, GraphPad Prism), and electronic lab notebooks
