Scientist I/II, In Vitro Neurobiology

Dragonfly Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced lab-based in vitro scientist to join our growing Neurobiology team to support the advancement of our pre-clinical programs. The candidate must have extensive experience in the design, execution, and analysis of neurobiology in vitro models.  We are searching for an independent and flexible individual able to work efficiently across multiple projects. Final position level will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Design and execute in vitro studies utilizing immortalized, primary, and iPSC-derived cell models to identify and validate targets for development
  • Utilize a wide variety of molecular and cell biology techniques to assess target engagement, mechanism of action, and efficacy
  • Keep up with scientific literature to support current programs and nominate potential new indications for the growing Neurobiology pipeline
  • Maintain proper scientific documentation in an electronic lab notebook and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
  • Generate, analyze, interpret, organize, and report experimental data

Qualifications:

  • PhD with 1-4 years of experience or BS/MS with 4+ years of relevant in vitro research experience; industry experience and experience with neuropathic pain is a plus
  • Extensive hands-on experience with molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blot, ELISAs, luciferase assays, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence) is required
  • Proficiency with cell culture models for studying neurobiology, including generating and culturing primary neurons, astrocytes, microglia cells, and Schwann cells
  • Experience developing, validating, and running high-dimensional flow cytometry panels is a plus
  • Experience with antibody design and development is a plus
  • Proficiency with data analysis methods and software (e.g. Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo), and electronic lab notebooks
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple study timelines while coordinating across different functional groups and program teams – working in concert with a team as well as independently
  • Self-motivated, conscientious, and enthusiastic about curing human disorders
