The Science Internship Program at Aetion is an extra-curricular internship program for ISGlobal Master’s students that provides unique exposure to working at a scale-up in the health technology space through half-year part-­time immersion on our Science Team. This is a 6 months internship starting on January 20, 2025 until June 27, 2025 at our Aetion European office located at Carrer de Còrsega, 381 in Barcelona (metro Verdaguer). This internship provides the opportunity to work alongside our experienced Analysts, Scientists, Directors, and VPs on numerous client-facing scientific studies. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform literature reviews in various disease areas and public health domains to support notably protocol writing and to contextualize data analysis results.
  • Work with Aetion team members to explore data or implement detailed study protocols for real-world studies across diverse disease areas, using applications from the Aetion Evidence Platform (AEP) and healthcare claims/electronic health record data.
  • Learn about the client relationship by supporting client-facing work through preparing material for presentations/study team meetings. 
  • Prepare and present a case study on an interesting project you worked on throughout the internship to the Aetion Science team.
  • Meet weekly with other members of the Aetion Science team and other teams when needed to learn more about working at a scale-up in the health technology space.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Able to commit to a working model with 2-3 afternoons (3-hour to 4-hour block) (Tuesday-Thursday) onsite at our Barcelona office.
  • Must be a registered ISGlobal Master’s student.
  • Able to commit to 8 to 12 hours/week for the duration of the internship (6 months with 2 weeks onboarding).
  • At least one research experience prior to Master programme (lab work, clinical research, etc.).
  • EU work permit.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Biostatistics, epidemiology, or other public health related bachelor/license.
  • Data analysis experience (do NOT have to be proficient in any programming language).
  • Strong critical thinking skills, communication, and attention-to-detail. 
  • A keen interest in working in the public health or real-world evidence (RWE) field post-Master graduation.
