If you’re a high school science teacher, the name Stile might ring a bell.
With an ever-expanding community of Stile schools in Victoria, we’re looking for a passionate educator to join the team in Melbourne.
About Stile
We have a vision for more interesting, rigorous and inclusive science education for Australian students. Imagine a world where mundane tasks like lesson planning are taken care of, and teachers are offered plenty of support to be full-time classroom superheroes! Stile is Australia’s only complete, end-to-end program for Years 7-10 science. It offers meticulously crafted lesson-by-lesson teaching plans, printable revision resources, videos, questions, simulations and practical activities. It’s what we wish we had when we were teaching. Built upon our world-class teaching and learning platform, Stile is updated weekly with the latest in science and technology.
At our foundation, we encourage kids to think critically about the world around them and make evidence-based decisions for themselves and their community. For more information, have a read of our ‘why’.
1 in 3 schools in Australia use Stile, and in Victoria, 60% of schools use Stile! We expect this number to continue to grow in the coming years. That's quite some reach, and it's a responsibility we take very seriously.
The Stile team is made up of 70 incredible teachers, scientists, artists and engineers who genuinely care about, and are working towards, improving scientific literacy amongst our young citizens.
That’s where you come in.
About the role
This position is perfect for an educator with school leadership experience who is looking to expand their impact beyond the classroom and enhance the education of tens of thousands of students. It combines working from home with visiting schools, making it ideal for anyone looking for a more flexible working environment. (That’s right—you can grab a snack without waiting for a bell to sound!). Read more about Teacher Life at Stile here.
This is a sales role, but it’s a sales role like no other. It’s fun, light and centred around a genuine mission to better science education. If you don’t have any sales experience, we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Hours and Location
This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Melbourne office. When you’re not on the road, you will work from Stile HQ.
Work hours are flexible but generally follow a 9-5 schedule. Usually, school visits and PD sessions run before or after school or anywhere in between.
You’ll regularly be driving to schools, so you’ll need your own car (don’t worry, we cover your expenses). Semi-regular travel will be required within Victoria or Tasmania to visit schools.
How you’ll spend your time
- Communicating Stile’s value to school leaders
Your experience as a leader within a school environment provides you with valuable insight into what heads of department and senior school leadership need and want. You’ll use this insight to win over school leaders, helping them to recognise how Stile can support them in meeting their strategic goals. - Visiting schools and discussing best practice science teaching with like-minded educators
You’ll work with teachers to help them implement evidence-based teaching strategies with Stile. You’ll also apply your classroom experience and pedagogical expertise to consult with faculty and school leaders. Mostly, you’ll be working with schools in Adelaide, but you may occasionally find yourself booking regional trips too. - Building community
Building relationships with those in the local STEM community is key to being successful in this role. For this reason, you’ll be in regular attendance at local events and conferences. You’ll also be responsible for hosting networking events, including leadership dinners, where members of the science education community can build connections with one another. - Continuing to hone your own skills and knowledge
We’re life-long learners at Stile, so we’re always looking to improve our practice. You’ll find yourself reading up on the latest negotiation strategies, or learning about the latest trends in education technology. You can also expect to spend time peer-reviewing work with your colleagues, ensuring we’re always delivering the best possible service.
