The Internal Products Group

Internal Product’s mission is to enable our peers (in tech and beyond) to do their best work. We do this in a variety of ways: finding a team the right tool for the job, helping them automate the most tedious parts of their work so they can invest in the valuable tasks they truly care about, discovering new ways in which to bring value to the business, and more.

We are made up of the following feature teams in 2024:

Editorial Technology

Develop a set of modern applications for our Editorial staff to author, edit and publish thousands of news articles every week.

Marketing Technology

This team looks after the technical ecosystem that supports our Marketing teams, including our email platform that serves the roughly 8 million emails that are sent every week to our customers who subscribe to our content.

CRM Technology

Our CRM Team looks after our Salesforce platform and the different applications used by our Sales teams.

 

The Role

We are seeking a Salesforce Engineer to join our Internal Products (IP) group within the FT’s Product & Technology department.

As an Salesforce Engineer within the CRM Team you will be responsible for delivering innovative technical solutions as you build and operate world class platforms to grow the Financial Times’ strategic business models. You will have the autonomy, within defined guard rails, to select the tools and technologies you need to build and operate services responsible for FT brand critical capabilities.  Someone who is comfortable with the constantly evolving technical landscape and is keen to contribute to the company’s processes and broader know-how would thrive in this role.

Our CRM team are currently working on a number of initiatives to modernise its CRM Platform by improving its Sales Pipeline, Data Structures and its connectivity with other FT Salesforce Orgs and Internal FT Systems with a view to driving adoption of our CRM Platform and extending its reach into other segments of the FTs audience. As part of this team, the Salesforce Engineer would be actively involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle.


Key Duties

  • Use your Specialist knowledge of Software Developement within a Salesforce EcoSystem to build and deliver  innovative technical solutions.
  • Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to gather requirements and agree on acceptance criteria.
  • Work within an agile delivery team, taking part in agile ceremonies regarding updates, planning & refinement, stakeholder demos and team retrospectives.
  • Incrementally deliver planned features to a high standard and also to agreed timescales
  • Design and deliver solutions that are secure, reliable, responsive, and scalable
  • Understand and play an active role in designing the architecture, tooling and release cycle processes used across the CRM Technology  team 
  • Develop a good understanding of our customer needs and ensure they are considered at each stage of the development lifecycle
  • Provide operational support for released features

 

What we are looking for

  • Extensive experience in Salesforce solution design and development, on both the Classic and the Lightning Platform.
  • Knowledge of Apex, Javascript, Visualforce, Aura, Lightning Web Components.
  • Well versed in standard processes around Salesforce Triggers & Batches, Object Oriented design patterns for Apex development and Clean Code practices.
  • Track record of delivering well engineered solutions using industry standard processes such as TDD, CI/CD, peer review, and pair programming
  • Experience developing Salesforce in an event driven architecture, consuming / generating  APIs and developing RESTful endpoints
  • Ability to work within an Engineering team that are fully responsible for the quality of the software they build and deploy
  • An active member of the broader technology community with an understanding of current leading trends
  • Experience working as part of an agile team, using methodologies like Scrum and Kanban
  • Good command of written and spoken English

  • Experience working within an environment where operational support and monitoring of code and systems is part of the culture (DevOps)
  • Experience of Salesforce CLI, SFDX, SF Platform Events.
  • Experience of working with the AWS cloud platform.
  • Experience of Salesforce CPQ (Steelbrick)
  • Will hold an industry certification in a key platform, tool or domain used within the CRM Technology team. This could be relevant certifications from Salesforce or AWS
