Sales Support Assistant - Chinese Intern

Job Purpose:

To work as a Sales Support Assistant to increase our portfolio of Chinese customers and develop mutually beneficial and profitable relationships with them.

Dimensions:

To manage and develop existing Chinese customers in line with the CVP, engage in price negotiations, manage DSO and work in line with the MOA.

Achieve individual performance indicators that will be assigned to support the achievement of business goals for the organization.

Actively prospect for new Chinese businesses, practicing Sales 1st disciplines. These include Sales CRM, effective call-planning, call-reporting, use of SPANCOP sales funnel, development of account plans and maintaining Top 5/Big 5 focus

Be responsible and proactive in HSSE issues affecting Self, Staff, Customers and the Environment.

Organization:

Work with the Field Based Account Manager, FBAM – Construction & Bitumen, to manage the Chinese customers in his portfolio of Accounts and other Chinese companies in the country

 

Direct accountability will however be to the  Commercial Manager.

Requirements

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Fill SPANCOP pipeline with qualifying Chinese accounts. Identify these accounts through cold-calling, networking and business journals.
  • Monitor performance levels and exceed individual KPIs as set by the Non-Mining STL.

 

  • Plan customer calls and visits to provide the appropriate level of service to existing and new Chinese customers with a focus on retaining/expanding existing business relationships and acquiring new business relationships.
  • Increase the value of existing Chinese customer accounts through cross, range and up selling.
  • Understand the business needs of Chinese customers, provide information on products and services; leveraging the CVPs to negotiate win-win solutions with customers and prospects.
  • Effectively use the Sales 1st tools in CRM.
  • Be responsible and proactive in HSSE issues related to your work and work environment.

Key Challenges:

Must have good networking skills to build beneficial relationships with the Chinese businesses.

Must understand Chinese culture and ways of working.

Develop and maintain a good communication link with other Frontline Salespersons to ensure customer requests receive the immediate attention it deserves.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of a University/Tertiary Degree preferably in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics or Finance
  • Able to communicate fluently in Chinese
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and Word
  • Good numeric and analytical skills
