The primary purpose of this position is to achieve established goals in sales by supporting the broader SunSource organization and affiliate companies. Goals will be achieved by supporting sales to identify targets, sharing technical/functional knowledge, and driving process improvements.
Experience, Education and Skills
- Two-year technical degree is required with preference given to programs within CNC Machining and Manufacturing/Repair.
- Bachelor's degree strongly desired in Engineering, Marketing or Business
- 5+ years' experience in the machine tool industry, with at least 2 years in Industrial repairs.
- Expert level knowledge of CNC Machining / Machine Tool Industry
- Previous or current experience in outside sales / product management of Industrial Service & Repair
- Proven ability to partner with and motivate sales professionals
Essential Functions
- Achieve Goals and Expand Customer Base: Support existing Account Managers (AMs) in achieving and exceeding goals for Industrial Repair products related to CNC & machine tool industries.
- Joint Calls - Observation and Coaching: Make field visits to observe, evaluate, and coach Account Managers in their assigned territory.
- Training and Development: Create and deliver training programs for all Account Managers (including those newly hired) and coordinate with other departments to ensure AMs are exposed to all aspects of processes and procedures for selling Industrial Repair related to CNC & machine tool industries.
- Customer Engagement: Personal contact with major customers and prospects to close a sale, promote goodwill, or to provide a basis for continued or future business.
- Market Penetration Strategies: Identify, develop, and implement marketing plans for Industrial Repair related to CNC & machine tool industries.
- Teamwork: Work closely with and maintain open communication with all managers and associates of customer service, operations, engineering, service/repair, warehousing, and shared services, in order to smoothly coordinate and interface the sales activities with the other functional areas of the company.
- Company Policy and Procedures: Comply with company policies and reporting requirements and assure that all Account Managers comply with administrative requirements of position.
- Technical Expertise: Maintains position appropriate technical product knowledge and general sales management techniques and trends.
- Processes / Companies: Understands industrial repair processes and components utilized across industries that can be repaired by SunSource partner companies. Market knowledge: Examples Aerospace, Automotive, Consumer Goods, Defense, Energy, Electronics, Oil & Gas, Marine, Medical and Transport to name a few
- Products: Understanding of both the electrical, instrumentation and mechanical components used in the industrial CNC sector. These include, but are not limited to: PLC’s, servo motors and drives, HMI’s, spindles, ball screws, gearboxes and waycovers.
