As the Sales Director, Strategic Accounts – Local Government, you will lead a team of Directors of Strategic Accounts responsible for fostering relationships with UK local government leaders.
Your primary focus will be on establishing and refining a Strategic Directors Practice that emphasises structured region- and account-based planning, data-driven management, and account management practices that drive meaningful results.
Through operational rigor, coaching, and performance tracking, you will enable your team to exceed sales targets, deepen customer relationships, and position Civica as the trusted partner for transformative technology.
Requirements
Sales Leadership and Operational Excellence: Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams in strategic account management within the public sector or software solutions industry. Expertise in developing, standardising, and enforcing sales best practices.
Data-Driven Approach: Strong analytical skills with a focus on driving data accuracy, CRM rigor, and a structured approach to leading and lagging metrics to optimise pipeline management and sales performance.
Strategic Thinking: Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to devise and implement account strategies that align with customer needs and Civica's objectives.
Customer-Focused: Demonstrated success in building and nurturing long-term, executive-level relationships; an empathetic listener and trusted advisor.
Results-Driven: Track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals. Self-motivated, resilient, and focused on achieving targets.
Innovation and Adaptability: Skilled in creative problem-solving and bringing fresh perspectives to complex challenges; comfortable in a dynamic environment.
Collaboration: Experience in cross-functional collaboration to enhance customer success. Acts as a connector across departments to drive results.
Market Insight: Familiarity with public sector challenges, particularly in local government. Knowledge of industry groups such as Solace, CIPFA, and LGA, and competitor activity.
Influence and Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and mobilising teams.
