Safety Systems and Training Coordinator

Full-Time
  • Participate in planning, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive occupational health and safety Systems management and training programs as approved by DCZL management as per Dangote group guidelines.
  • Implement approved HSE training plans and programs in the Plant and monitor employees’ compliance with Safety Policies.
  • Conduct periodic assessments to identify the effectiveness of the training programs.
  • Develop suitable communication materials for safety trainings and drills.
  • Conduct safety awareness sessions at periodic HSE refresher trainings.
  • Facilitate safety drills at the Plant, in line with approved schedule.
  • Coordinate all Safety trainings and feed into the Talent Management system for consolidation and reporting to Group Learning and Development data base.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or use of personal protective equipment.
  • Assist with accident investigations as required and ensure prompt communication of recommendations to all concerned parties
  • Coordinate and conduct work area assessment, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions, such as noise exposure, chemical exposure, indoor/outdoor air quality, light levels, confined space, and ventilation in shop floor, etc
  • Support in the execution of approved corrective action to prevent future incidents.
  • Administer random and post-accident testing programs and ensure accurate and complete documentation of results/ findings
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of safety activities and accident occurrences and develop periodic reports to determine safety trends and needs.
  • Collect, analyse and maintain data essential for effective safety programs.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees, officials, external organisations, and representatives of Local, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Prepare budget requirements and monitor expenditures in the unit.
  • Coordinate and conduct of basic HSE induction exercises for Plant employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Head, Plant HSE.

Requirements

  • Degree, Diploma or its equivalent in Industrial Safety or related discipline.
  • Certification/ license from OSHA or other recognized HSE body (e.g. Certified Safety Professional)
  • Certificate in First Aid.
  • Engineering background and Teaching will be added advantage
  • Minimum of Seven (7-10) years relevant work experience.
