We are looking for a Safety Management System Advisor to join our team. The goal of a Safety Management System Advisor at Wisk is to ensure that the Safety Management System functions throughout the design, manufacturing, and testing processes, including flight tests, as well as test activities on rigs and simulators to support company programs.
This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Hollister office 2 to 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days.
Why we need you
The successful candidate is thoroughly familiar with SMS implementation and principles. Experience in rolling out new policies and change management is required. Experience in a test environment is desired. You should have a strong understanding of aircraft systems and the processes and support elements required to complete certification testing. Possess a wide exposure to Safety Management Systems, focused on the aviation environment, and specifically test. In this role, the candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
What you will do:
- Conducting and coaching subject matter experts in risk or hazard assessments across a wide cross-section of tasks.
- Lead teams through challenging safety-related situations.
- generate clear and concise documentation to be used within the Safety Management System.
- Train team members on SMS documentation to grow the safety culture within the company.
- Manage messages up the reporting chain as well as down into working-level teams.
- Identify areas of improvement in safety processes and can develop plans to enact the changes.
- Discovering effective root cause analyses of events and incidents.
- Coordinate program-level activities.
- Develop standardization of safety practices.
- Adaptable, and self-starting. Able to thrive in an evolving startup environment.
- You will take part in Safety Management System Activities to implement and maintain an SMS across the OEM.
- You will help support problem-solving activities associated with assigning engineering, production, and operating UAM in a certification environment.
- You will help coordinate flight test and system test activities.
- You will take part in all four pillars of SMS, as well as Safety Culture activities.
What you have done:
- Have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, a plus if engineering or aviation safety field.
- At least 8 years of aviation experience.
- Flight or system test experience desired.
- 3 years experience in safety risk management.
- You have worked in FAA or military-regulated environments (121, 135, airport, test, etc.)
- You have hands-on experience in safety risk management, internal safety communications, and data visualizations.
