In 2021, Samsung announced a new facility in Taylor, Texas, where it plans to invest a minimum $17 billion in the build-out. The site spans 1,200+ acres and the first phase of development will have 4.7 million square feet of floor space consisting of a cluster of semiconductor manufacturing buildings such as a fab, office, parking garage, central utility building, and special utility supply facilities. The Taylor facility will boost the production of semiconductor solutions that will power next-generation technologies in areas like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance computing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Safety, taking the lead for development of strategic programs at both S2 and T1. Specifically, this position serves as owner of Journey to Zero and Leading Safety Metric Programs. This position also leads coordination and development of annual site safety metrics and OKRs. Additionally, this role will provide support for safety roadmap and continuous improvement activities and projects. The successful candidate operates across organizational boundaries and serves as an ambassador for Safety-related program improvements.

Specific Job Duties:

· Journey to Zero (JTZ) program owner: Responsibilities include driving innovation and improvement strategy year over year; defining and preparing monthly content to be presented at leadership meetings; create and deliver training to further strengthen culture and accelerate activities

 

· Leading Safety Metric (LSM) champion: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop site wide annual incentives and goals. Partner with EHS Systems team to manage and improve LSM application and user interface, ensuring entries are reviewed and points are awarded in a timely fashion.

· ISO 45001 Management System Lead: In collaboration with the Compliance Program Manager, lead internal processes associated with the Safety Management System including execution of internal audits, development of objectives and targets, and maintenance of the SMS risk register.

· Incident Rate Calculations: Contribute to the development of, and calculate and report monthly incident rates and other safety metrics/KPIs as defined by management team

· Sequential Safety Meetings (SSM): Plan and create content for monthly Sequential Safety Meetings.

· Safety Communications: Coordinate with SAS Communications team and EHS department for monthly EHS communications; work with appropriate teams to expand program visibility as required

· Safety Surveys: Coordinate and execute internal and industry peer safety surveys, including communications, results roll up and action plan management to completion

· Business Reports: Coordinate content for monthly business reports, providing content and review to ensure slide structure and consistency

· Safety Road Map: Develop and implement a plan for tracking safety roadmap efforts

· Support continued operational excellence by supporting safety projects and continuous improvement activities, as necessary.

· Seek out and complete application for external safety-related awards and recognition on an ongoing basis.


Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

  • >8+ years’ experience in Health and Safety performing similar tasks required
  • Bachelor of Science or MS in Safety, IH, Environmental Science, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Project Management experience is highly desired
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor experience preferred
  • Strategic Program Implementation experience desired
  • Certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc. required or ability to be certified.
  • Expert communication and presentation skills required 
  • Customer-facing experience preferred
