Chief Ethanol is currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join the Chief Ethanol Team in Hastings, NE or Lexington, NE. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining a variety of environmental, health, and safety programs to assure a safe work environment for our employees. 
Job Responsibilities:

·         Ensure that federal, state and local EHS laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed.
·         Maintain a regular program to audit the work environment, removal of recognized hazards, and for OSHA compliance to include recordkeeping and training requirements.
·         Develop, maintain, and conduct effective safety training to all employees and new hires.
·         Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of policies, procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
·         Coordinate Process Safety Management Program compliance.
·         Responsible for compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting all accidents with the proper paperwork to corporate worker’s compensation claim administrator.
·         Initiate and conduct accident investigations to determine the causes and take appropriate follow up actions/recommendations for the injured to reduce future risks.
·         Evaluate all injuries and recommend transport and treatment for injury. Transport any injured employee as needed to the medical facility. Assist in developing modified work duties for injured employees.
·         Develop, implement and maintain all Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) and site-specific policies as needed.
·         Maintain an emergency action plan and train for the event of a disaster (tornado and fire drills). In the event of a disaster, assist in the evaluation of damage and possible loss.
·         Use engineering, administrative, and training controls for risk management and accident reduction.
·         Assist in purchasing and controlling the costs of safety equipment purchases, medical supplies, and personal protective equipment.
·         Ensure that employees have the necessary tools and safety equipment to do their job safely and effectively.
·         Maintain necessary First Responders, First Aid and CPR certifications and AED program.
·         Oversee the safety committee and report meeting minutes, recommendations, and actions to management.
·         Maintain records of plant near misses, first aid, injuries, accidents and OSHA log.
·         Assist as needed in scheduling pre-placement physicals, capacity profile, and assist in pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screens.
·         Oversee and manage contractor safety program.
·         Administrate and oversee safety incentive program.
·         Assist the Safety Manager in EHS compliance tasks as needed. 

 

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
·         EHS and/or plant operational or maintenance experience preferred 
·         Needs to possess a commitment to EHS compliance with all applicable laws and regulations 
·         Must possess an ability to lead, teach, and hold employees accountable for EHS compliance 
·         Must possess computer skills including Microsoft applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
