 Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Safety Coordinator, the Safety Assistant will assist in implementation of the Gowan Milling safety program. This position is to add coverage during evening and weekend hours of operation.
 
 
Job Description
The Safety Assistant will conduct duties to include:

     Conduct safety inspections.
      Assist in having safety documentation in place for new campaign startups.
     Investigate causes of incidents to identify preventative safety measures.
      Evaluate and promote safe working procedures.
      Ensure compliance with Gowan Milling policies as well as state and federal regulations.
      Maintain Safety documents and records in accordance of HIPPA compliance standards.
     Present / Train in weekly safety meetings and promote a safe working environment that aligns with Gowan Milling’s goals.
      Work “On-Call hours”.
     Additional tasks as assigned by direct supervisor 

Qualifications
To perform this job satisfactory, the candidate must possess the following qualifications:

        Able to maintain a positive attitude and work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
       Capable of following written and verbal work instructions and complete responsibilities in a timely manner.
       Possess strong communication skills as it pertains to assigned tasks.
     Strong people skills and an ability and willingness to interact with all levels of management and staff.
       Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently when needed.
       Possess a working knowledge of current company policy regarding safety, environmental and quality systems.
       Must have pride in quality of work and be willing to receive feedback from leadership.

Physical Requirements
         Possess a valid driver’s license.
         Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment when required which would include; half face respirator, full-face respirator,
Tyvek, grounding straps, eye protection when needed.
        Spanish/English Bilingual proficiency.
       Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
        Ability to ascend/descend stairs in buildings.
       Requires ability to lift items up to 50 lbs unassisted.
        Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, pulling, and pushing.
        Ability to work outdoors throughout the year in extreme temperatures.
Will be on rotational weekend call out schedule and may be required to work extra hours if needed.
