The Role
We are seeking a Summer Intern to join the Metropolis Risk Management team, an amalgamation of claims, safety, and risk management professionals in a broad array of roles. Our mission includes reducing operational risks, protecting the financial interests of the company, and managing the total cost of risk.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analyze data, to provide informative reports with value-add recommendations.
- Update documents, spreadsheets, databases and diagrams as needed.
- Participate in strategy meetings and prepare policy renewal deliverables.
- Assembling and communicating Contractual requirements to internal and external parties and ensuring compliance.
- Assist Safety function in creating and distributing loss control material to Operations.
- Perform budgeting, forecasting and cost monitoring activities
- Maintain and monitor Key Risk Indicators.
- Gain experience in navigating property, casualty and management liability insurance, and surety markets.
- Shadow Broker, Actuary, Claims Administrator, Attorney and Underwriter.
Requirements
- 3.3 GPA +
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree concentrated in Risk Management & Insurance or a related field.
- Driven personality with the ambition to learn the functions of corporate risk management.
- Experience working with data, interpreting the results, and making recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Experience with other data manipulation tools is a plus.
- Campus involvement/leadership.
- Ability to work full-time in our downtown Chicago Office for 10 weeks, starting in early Summer (hybrid work model).
