Marqeta’s Risk and Compliance Analyst, is a key individual contributor position within Marqeta’s Compliance department. This position will play a critical role in the continuous improvement of the Compliance Management System of the firm, primarily responsible for driving compliance operations optimizations forward and owning their outcomes. Broadly, you will drive the business through building repeatable and scalable GRC processes across the organization, while consistently driving to reduce risks. This is a developmental opportunity to join a rapidly growing team looking to build a strong and dynamic Compliance Management System for an innovative and uniquely positioned Financial Technology company.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland, CA office. We’d love for you to join us!

What You’ll Do

  • Help facilitate periodic reviews of Compliance policies and procedures
  • Support the Compliance Training program of the firm
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of Marqeta’s GRC tool
  • Participate in reporting and governance activities
  • Develop and assist with the administration of the Compliance department’s project portfolio
  • Lead and manage projects with minimal supervision related to new processes or procedures for the Compliance team
  • Build and improve operational workflows for the Compliance team
  • Ensure that adequate controls are in place to meet federal laws and regulations and provide training, advice, and education on how to comply with regulatory requirements and monitor such compliance
  • Responsible for active stakeholder engagement by ensuring close collaboration with key stakeholders across the Company and working closely with the Legal team and other subject matter experts on relevant compliance projects
  • Exercise effective communication and promote positive relationships with business team members and management

What We’re Looking For 

  • 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably within the banking or payments industry, in Consumer Compliance or Risk Management
  • Knowledge of current and emerging payment systems and banking regulation/ supervision in the US
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced and dynamic environment requiring a high degree of personal accountability, quality, accuracy, integrity, and trust
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • High EQ, strong analytical skills, and detail-oriented
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technology skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities in a logical manner
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, when needed

Nice-To-Haves

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager or other compliance-related certifications
  • Experience using GRC tools
  • Prior experience with project management tools, such as Asana and Jira

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

 

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $78,000 - $104,000
  • Premium: $87,750 - $117,000
  • Premium Plus: $97,500 - $130,000
