**This position is hybrid, 3 days in office in Wicker Park, Chicago.
Position Summary
As a Retail Media Strategist, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our retail media accounts across the United States and Canada, across various retailers. You will work closely with internal and external cross-functional agency partners, and brand and sales teams to develop comprehensive media strategies that deliver on our brand, retail and shopper marketing objectives. You will be responsible for developing actionable retail media plans, executing media activity in platform, analyzing performance data, and delivering actionable insights to drive the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs). Additionally, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to align retail media efforts with broader brand objectives and support A/B testing and experimentation initiatives.
This role requires a strong data-driven strategic and growth-oriented mindset, with a robust understanding of the retail marketing and media tech landscape, and the learning agility to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic recommendations and go-to-market media plans across key retail media platforms in the United States and Canada.
- Manage and optimize media accounts on a day-to-day basis, including the creation of campaigns and audience targeting.
- Analyze and manipulate performance data to identify areas for improvement and opportunities to optimize media spend and tactics to achieve KPIs.
- Provide actionable insights and reporting on daily, weekly, and monthly performance, comparing results against goals and KPIs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal and external partners to develop a cohesive marketing and media approach that balance short-term KPIs with household penetration and long-term brand equity growth.
- Provide strategic recommendations and input into the development of annual media investment strategy.
- Foster strategic and tactical alignment with internal stakeholders such as brand, creative, omnichannel sales, and content marketing teams.
- Work with media agency partners to optimize in-market activities, generate insights for improved effectiveness, and adopt innovative approaches supported by data.
- Set up, monitor, and report on A/B tests and experiments within the paid media channels.
- Monitor and track budget pacing across campaigns, making necessary reallocations.
- Clearly communicate campaign changes and performance updates to partners and stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry news and trends, and share knowledge to upskill the team.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
- 4+ years of experience planning, executing and measuring retail media strategies and activation. In-platform experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience and certifications across numerous retail media platforms would be considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement robust retail media strategies, preferably with experience working on CPG & Fast Moving Consumer Goods brands.
- Proficiency with key retail media platforms, technologies, and trends; Experience with platforms such as Amazon Advertising, Walmart Connect, Pacvue, etc. would be considered an asset.
- Ability to leverage KPIs, data, metrics, and apply learnings in real time.
- Robust learning agility, with the demonstrated flexibility, grit and ownership to learn new platforms and skills as the needs of the business continue to grow.
- Deep understanding of ad tech across various channels, including DSP, Paid Search, Onsite & Offsite Retail Media, etc.
- Capability to translate brand objectives and plans into actionable media strategies across digital and linear retail media channels.
- Positive, entrepreneurial spirit with excellent multitasking skills and the ability to deliver under tight timelines and adapt quickly to change.
- Strong quantitative and data analysis skills.
- Ability to build and foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Understanding of both brand and acquisition strategies, with experience running awareness and direct response campaigns.
- Ability to travel in the USA and Canada as needed
