World Relief Memphis seeks a highly talented Resettlement Specialist to ensure the delivery of quality, timely and compassionate services to newly arrived refugees to Memphis in accordance with federal and World Relief requirements. The Resettlement Specialist will ensure the successful connection to all required and relevant resources, provide on-going cultural adjustment support, collaborating with community stakeholders, and make appropriate internal and external referrals while empowering and encouraging clients towards the goal of self-sufficiency.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare for new arrivals by preparing case files, completing applications and working in collaboration with the Housing & Resource Manager to ensure safe and appropriate housing and all material needs are secured in accordance with federal requirements.
- Coordinate with any relevant US ties for new arrivals to determine any support and resources that will be provided to clients upon arrival.
- Serve as the primary R&P case specialist for a regular, ongoing R&P caseload, completing all required R&P core services within the R&P service period (up to 90 days)
- Provide community orientation, navigation and connections to address basic needs.
- Assist refugees with initial health screening paperwork and appointments and identifying and accessing transportation assistance for other health related appointments.
- Assist clients in creating budgets and provide basic financial information
- Ensure clients are promptly enrolled in eligible refugee and public benefits (as applicable), including health insurance, secure Social Security cards and IDs, enroll in ESL classes, and referrals for employment services.
- Conduct a comprehensive family assessment with each client, develop individualized service plans that are goal oriented and tailored to individual needs, and make appropriate referrals for which clients would benefit in their journey towards self-sufficiency and community integration.
- Perform home visits and evaluations during service period
- Identify and address barriers to successful resettlement and integration in partnership with clients
- Operate as a cultural broker between volunteers, church groups, service providers and refugees to facilitate self-sufficiency among clients.
- Provide mediation services between clients and outside entities (I.e. neighbors, landlords, volunteers, service providers, etc.)
- Maintain regular communication with clients through phone calls, emails, and office visits.
- Maintain and complete detailed and accurate records of client files, case notes, and ensure timely case closure and all applicable reports in accordance with federal and World Relief requirements.
- Complete reports, service plans, and other tasks related to programs connected to the Tennessee Office for Refugees.
- Actively participate in service line, department and all staff meetings, staff development opportunities, ongoing training and organizational events
- Other related tasks and duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith

- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Up to 25% domestic travel only required
- Excellent time management and planning skills, and a keen attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and conflict resolution skills
- Highly motivated with good follow through and problem-solving skills
- Skill and sensitivity working with people from various backgrounds and beliefs
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and resolve problems/issues promptly and effectively
- Ability to work well on a team in a synergistic work environment, a flexible and motivated team player
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as client’s needs change
- Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle required
- Must be able to drive WRM fleet vehicles, including a 15-passenger van
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated understanding of case management processes, strengths-based perspectives, and trauma-informed practice preferred
- Previous professional experience in social services sector strongly preferred
- Previous case management experience preferred
- Bi-Lingual strongly desired (e.g. Dari, Arabic, Kirundi, Swahili)
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Must be able to list up to 10-15 lbs
- Experience in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
