About Sei
Sei Labs builds open sourced technology for the high-performance Sei Blockchain, the first parallelized EVM Layer 1 blockchain designed to scale with the industry. The unique optimizations built into Sei enable Web3 applications to reach Web2 level scale and performance, driving the mass adoption of digital assets.
Our teams are comprised of former Google, Goldman Sachs, Robinhood, Nvidia, and Databricks veterans dedicated to onboarding the next billion users onto a vibrant ecosystem of applications.
Sei Labs has raised over $30M from top investors including Jump Crypto, Multicoin Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Distributed Global, Hudson River Trading, and Flow Traders.
We're a globally distributed team with a fully remote workforce. Check out our website and docs for more details.
Research Engineering at Sei
Collaborating closely with our engineering team, you'll spearhead the design and testing to improve the Sei Blockchain. Drawing upon your extensive expertise and insights into mechanisms utilized in current blockchain ecosystems, you'll assess options for Sei’s design, focusing on improving performance of the blockchain. Your contributions will span a broad spectrum of areas, including execution layer improvements (ex. parallelization) and consensus algorithms. Ultimately, your efforts will be instrumental in helping us achieve our mission of scaling the EVM. If you're passionate about pushing the boundaries of blockchain technology we'd love to hear from you.

- Remain up to date with all major advancements in crypto
- This includes crypto infrastructure (L1s, L2s, execution layers, consensus layers, DA layers, storage, MEV, intents, etc.), crypto applications (Wallets/UIs, Defi, Games, Social)
- Run analysis and come up with ideas for what Sei should build, communicate these ideas internally and externally
- Work with core engineers to build out these products
- Design documents, whitepapers, help the wider engineering team stay on top of web 3 movements
Requirements
- 2+ years of scaling L1 performance, or heavy academic research on blockchain performance
- Deep experience researching various blockchain technologies, namely in the consensus space
- Familiarity with distributed systems
- Experience with concurrency fundamentals (multithreading, parallelism)
- Should be proficient with one of Golang, Rust, Python
