Our team is a small, collaborative research engineering team based in Mountain View, California, specializing in the development of accessible and highly-usable foundational models + infrastructure. Our primary aim is to power and accelerate the research being done at Google DeepMind by developing highly-usable infrastructure and tools. We are dedicated to developing solutions that meet researcher needs, provide scalable + highly-usable infrastructure, and simplify and accelerate LLM research across the broad portfolio of GDM projects.

As a Research Engineer, you will develop software to advance cutting-edge research ideas. You will collaborate closely with our team of Research Scientists and Research Engineers to understand and unblock every step of the research process - from ideation, to early prototyping and validation, to publication and/or integration with products. You will develop key software and infrastructure powering research, and will become a go-to expert in the tools and systems for LLM research. This is a unique opportunity to have horizontal impact across the many research areas that make up the GDM project portfolio, and to accelerate the development of SOTA LLM research.
We are looking for a research engineer who is interested in contributing to core code, tools, and infrastructure that enables and is close to LLM research.
