Position Overview:
As a Repair Technician, you will perform diagnostics and repairs on varied computer equipment, which includes Desktops, Laptops, Servers, and Printers. You will also interface with external customers and conduct both face to face and telephone evaluation of potential computer issues. Additionally, you will initiate, follow-up, and close out repair claims with vendors and ensure all parts are returned in a timely fashion.
What you’ll do as the Repair Technician:

- Perform troubleshooting on variety of computer equipment and maintain the ability to diagnose a variety of computer related issues
- Maintain a base level of computer repair knowledge
- Utilize multiple sources to supplement knowledge on more difficult repairs
- Utilize industry standard practices to diagnosis issues to determine the source of the problem
- Perform computer repair at the Field Replacement Unit (FRU) level
- Identify potential FRU failures
- Place replacement part orders from vendors
- Replace FRU and ensure that equipment is reassembled in a neat and presentable manner for the customer
- Interact with customers in both face to face and electronic methods
- Interview and document customer provided information to facilitate the repair process
- Provide feedback to the customer during the repair process and ensure the customers understand the current status
- Provide the customer with a final report of work performed and ensure the customer is satisfied with the end result
- Place in-warranty and out-of-warranty claims with vendors Ensure parts are returned in a proper fashion
- Place initial warranty claim with vendor through designate warranty web site
- Ensure all information is correct and provided to ensure timely processing of claims
- Receive replacement parts from vendor and perform request repair
- Return defective parts to vendor in specified time frame and ensure claim is properly closed for payment
- Perform Test & Check of equipment for Returns
- Receive equipment from the Zones’ Return team
- Document condition of equipment Note any missing parts or pieces that would normally be included
- For any equipment open and used, perform a diagnostic on the equipment and evaluate condition Initiate repair on any equipment not up to spec
- Provide the Returns team a documented status upon return of equipment
What you will bring to the team:
- High School or Equivalent
- CompTIA A+ certification required
- CompTIA Server+ certification required within 3 month of Hire
- Tier 1 Vendor (IBM, HP, Lenovo, Dell, Apple) Desktop, Laptop, and Server Repair certifications preferred
- HP or other Printer repair certifications a plus
- 2+ years required of experience in a Computer Repair environment
- Experience should include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, replacement part ordering from vendors, and processing and return of exchange parts
- Experience with on-site repairs including customer facing interface is a plus
