Job Title: Rendering Safety Manager

Job Summary:
The Rendering Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety and compliance of rendering operations within the facility. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
-Safety Program Management: Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and procedures related to rendering processes to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and reports for regulatory inspections.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards in rendering operations. Implement corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees. Ensure that all staff are informed about safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Incident Management: Investigate safety incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence. Maintain records of incidents and corrective actions taken.
- Safety Equipment: Oversee the maintenance and proper use of safety equipment and personal protective gear. Ensure that safety equipment is regularly inspected and serviced.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans specific to rendering operations. Coordinate drills and ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
- Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety within the organization by promoting awareness, encouraging safe practices, and addressing safety concerns from employees.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably with a focus on rendering processes.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements. Familiarity with rendering processes and associated hazards is beneficial.
- Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze complex safety issues and develop effective solutions.
- Certifications: Certification in safety management or a related field is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Daily involvement within the rendering facility, hides facility, waste water treatment plant and fleet truck shop. Occasional office work
- May require occasional evening or weekend work to conduct safety training or respond to incidents.
