As the regional lead for Transportation and Trade operations, the incumbent is expected to do the following:
- Provides accurate and timely local subject matter expertise pertaining to import and export requirements to business teams.
- A single point of contact for Western Digital Regional Business Units/Functions, Brokers/Carriers for import and export compliance requirement
- Supports new business model and legal entity set up in the region.
- Roll out Broker Management Program within the region including managing KPI’s.
- Pro-actively engages with key business partners to support/manage and resolve market access challenges & respond to customs queries/audits.
- Implements Global Trade Compliance Policies with respective business & Functional teams and is the owner of the regional Internal Control Program
- Provides trainings to business stakeholders as needed on trade operations requirements
- Independently leads and drive complex compliance projects and initiatives to successful closure.
- Supports investigation of potential violations and collaborates with Trade Compliance management to prepare voluntary disclosures and track corrective actions.
- Participates in the planning and execution of compliance assessments.
- Maintains a strong rapport with relevant regulatory authorities and represents WD in Industry forums
- Identify and recommends process improvements and simplifications.
- Pro-actively communicates and shares regulatory changes impacting the business in the region.
- Ensuring accurate and detailed record keeping.
- Ability to influence a particular business across functions and/or regions.
- Actively participates in developing regional compliance operations strategy and annual plan of action
- Ability to co-ordinate with respective stakeholders to develop customs ruling (BTI) requests
- Well versed with regulatory screenings and researching e.g. restricted party list screening, HTS and ECCN classification etc.
- Manage Freight Forwarders / carriers to ensure KPI’s are met.
- Highlight any delivery issues that impacting shipment On Time Performance.
- Ensure root cause and corrective actions for non-performing lanes.
- Analytical ability to do proactive decision / planning to ensure shipment On Time delivery.
- Follow up with appointed freight forwarding to follow on OTM planning.
- Analytical ability to find out the correct result and fix issue with IT.
- Analyze OTM report and follow up the missing milestone/Event from appointed freight forwarding.

- Ability to communicate and present overall performance, follow detailed work instructions and cross train peers
- Works on assignments and special projects relating to Control Tower and Transportation activities as assigned.
Experience & Expertise
- >10 years of direct working with Import/ Export controls and Transportation Management
- Bachelor’s in international Trade /Logistics Operations
- Strong understanding of US and EMEA regional import and export regulations
- Knowledge to perform HTS and ECCN Classification
- Proven expertise in determining Rules of Origin and Country of Origin
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft packages (Excel, Visio, Word, Power point etc.)
- Proven practice on working with international customs and export control laws
- Mentor Junior level Staff
- Exposure to ERP platforms (GTS/GTM/other)
- Ability to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally, as required.
