Regional Trade Compliance Manager

Role Purpose:

Sets the trade compliance agenda for Syngenta Group in AMEA Region and works together with other Trade Compliance colleagues on delivering the global trade compliance agenda as well as the trade compliance mind-set and culture.
•Supports and implements Global Trade Compliance topics; monitors legal/political developments, advises on strategic trade-relevant topics for Syngenta Group regionally.
• Designs, implements, and manages the regional Trade Compliance program, covering relevant regional trade compliance topics including cost mitigation and corporate governance

 

Accountabilities:

With Head Global Trade Compliance, and Compliance Officer colleagues, designs the compliance strategic agenda, and ensures delivery of this agenda, including implementation and monitoring of the trade compliance program across Syngenta Group across all functions and Syngenta Group businesses for AMEA Region.
• Closely interacts, and builds trust and influence with colleagues in Commercial, Production & Supply, R&D, Legal, and others across all businesses, within Syngenta Group regionally to increase the impact of the Trade Compliance program.
• Works collaboratively with Syngenta Group businesses to set the duty strategy in an optimized way and to introduce and encourage cost savings, mitigations, and avoidance.
• Reviews and monitors first line controls at the Operations level.
• Provides training on the Global Trade Compliance framework portfolio.
• Advises Syngenta Group employees and functions on issues related to trade compliance

Must build strong relationships with trade compliance team and cross-functional communities across all Syngenta Group companies.
• Ability to work across international boundaries, to deliver the trade compliance agenda, via a client-service model.
• Knowledge and understanding of trade laws and regulations and Syngenta Group businesses.
• Ability to work on time-sensitive issues and manage constantly changing priorities

Knowledge/ Experience 

5+ years of experience in international trade operations, trade law and/or trade compliance.
• Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and communicate international laws and regulations and translate this knowledge into actionable items.
• Fluency in English required, other languages a plus.
• Experience working in virtual/remote teams and ability to work collaboratively across organizational and cultural boundaries at all levels.
• Strong listening, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent organization, follow-up, and analytical skills
• Proactive in managing own scope and ability to balance various projects and timelines

 

  • Willingness to travel for work both domestically / nationally and internationally (up to 20%).
