The Role
As a Regional Supplier Development Engineer, you will work closely with our regional Supplier Quality Engineering teams to enhance quality and productivity across our global supply base. This includes utilizing key process indicators to identify suppliers’ manufacturing processes requiring some level of technological enhancement.
What you will do
- Collaborate with the Sourcing and Global Supplier Quality Assurance teams to identify suppliers in need of development.
- Utilize an array of supplier health, risk, and delivery metrics to identify development needs. Additionally, consider cost, productivity, safety, and environmental compliance to drive the identification of development opportunities.
- Develop and support the implementation of improvements to manufacturing processes, inspection techniques, mistake-proofing, quality management systems, and utilization/deployment of software.
- Utilize effort-impact-cost matrices to prioritize opportunities to ensure the effective application of investment and resources.
- Work closely and collaborate with our suppliers, Global Quality Assurance and Victaulic’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group to conceptualize, create, test and drive implementation of next level technology enhancements.
- Participate in both the product development and supplier qualification processes to evaluate and address suppliers’ technology capability prior to entering full scale production.
- Research and benchmark industry best practices and technology for quality management. Attend yearly manufacturing technology trade shows as appropriate to stay up to date on the latest technology trends.
- Play a key role in the supplier corrective action process to ensure proposed solutions are using appropriate technology and meet a minimum threshold for effectiveness.
- Establish necessary key process indicators to monitor the success of completed development efforts. Consider quality, cost, throughput, safety, and environmental compliance as key objectives.
- Assist suppliers as necessary during the introduction and qualification of new components, ensuring a full understanding of the tolerances, specifications and manufacturing process expectations.
About You

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering required. A degree in another engineering discipline, with strong work experience will also satisfy this qualification.

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role with proven success in technology enhancement.

Strong proficiency in fundamental manufacturing engineering principles and techniques.

Proficient in 3D modeling and 2D drafting in SolidWorks or equivalent software.

Experience in design and implementation of vision technology a plus.

Experience in fixture and mistake-proofing design a plus.

Experience in casting and machining processes a plus.

Demonstrated history of problem solving.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Able to travel 50% of the time in short notice.
