The Opportunity

The Regional Development Associate will assist in executing CEO’s regional fund development strategy through research, grant writing, donor cultivation, and collaboration with program staff on outreach and engagement strategies. The Regional Development Associate will be responsible for CEO’s Southern California (Los Angeles, San Diego, Inland Empire, and Fresno sites) fundraising, including prospect research, drafting letters of inquiry/proposals/individual donor correspondence, and coordinating grant reporting.

The Regional Development Associate will be highly organized and motivated to help attract, develop, and retain resources to sustain and grow the organization. They will adopt CEO’s results-driven culture to manage a range of deadline-driven projects and promote our work and achievements to attract diverse funding opportunities. They will be adept at partnering with entry- to senior-level staff on high-stakes projects and enthusiastic about building support for reentry and workforce development across a wide range of audiences.

Who We Are

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration. Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

Who You Are

  • You have a minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience, including at least one year’s experience in nonprofit grant writing/fund development with a proven track record of success
  • You have fluency in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
  • You have proficient experience using data and/or donor management platforms such as Salesforce
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage compellingly with diverse audiences
  • You have ability to work autonomously to produce materials on deadline, while often managing multiple concurrent deadlines
  • You have meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • You have the willingness to learn, ability to adapt, and agility to quickly shift priorities to meet the changing needs of our work

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Key responsibilities of the Regional Development Associate include but are not limited to:

  • Drafts, assembles, and submits responses to foundation, corporate, and government requests for proposals (RFPs)
  • Coordinates the assembly and submission of impactful and tailored grant reports for designated foundation and government grants
  • Works with program staff to ensure on-time submission of grant-related deliverables by thoroughly planning, delegating, and adhering to timelines and content requirements
  • Drafts meeting request/follow-up correspondence 
  • Coordinates visits and virtual meetings from current and potential funders to CEO’s Los Angeles, San Diego, Inland Empire, and Fresno Offices
  • Tracks all institutional giving activities that relate to the assigned portfolio of sites using Salesforce
  • Researches funding prospects with alignment to CEO’s mission and impact
  • Provides research and analytic support for funding or program ideas
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Compensation and Benefits  

The salary range for this position is $50,200-61,750/annually. CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors including experience, internal equity, and the labor market associated with the city in which the position is located. The labor markets associated with the cities in which CEO is based are variable, and the salary range included here reflects this. Our salary offer will fall within this range and will be reflective of the labor market of the city in which the position is based, as well the other factors named above. 

We recognize that salary is a part of the overall compensation package and also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, as well as professional development opportunities to our staff.
