Regional Director of Special Programs 
 
Role Mission: The Regional Director of Special Programs ensures IDEA Public Schools in their region meets the needs of all its students through special program instruction defined by quality individualized student plan creation, and when applicable, through related services. The Regional Director of Special Programs is responsible for ensuring the intersection of compliance requirements, streamlined support structures, and increasing student achievementThe Regional Director of Special Programs will manage and coach all regional special programs leads to ensure all students with individualized plans are achieving their goals and objectives and becoming successful learners. This person will also build collaborative business partnerships between national and regional support personnel to ensure IDEA’s special programming has the impact that it is intended to achieve. 
  
Location: 
This is a full-time, hybrid position located in Austin, TX. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the region, or who are willing to relocate. 
  
What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Essential Duties: 
 Coach and Manage Regional Special Programs Regional Leads so that 100% of Special Programs Compliance and Instruction (Special Education, 504, EL and CSI) are implemented 
  • Manage and coach regional leads through proactive and responsive management and coaching 
  • Norm regional leads on clear criteria and operating mechanisms for management and execution for implementation of all Special Programs 
  • Create and manage systems of accountability to ensure regional leads own all implementation 
  • Partner and lead vision with regional leadership teams (VP, ED) on all special programs initiatives 
  
Maintain Federal Compliance Standards 
  • Ensures 100% of Special Programs timelines are met for all students in the region 
  • Collaborate with national Special Programs team to submit all TEA/LDOE required documentation for all schools in the region 
  • Oversee Special Education student records compliance through operating mechanisms with the regional Special Education clerks 
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Special Education Programming to ensure effective instructional support is part of every student’s IEP  
  
Coach and Manage all direct reports so 80% of all direct reports meet 4 out of 5 goals 
  • Identify high leverage coaching knowledge and skills for all regional leads and align coaching, management, and accountability 
  • Collaboratively identify the highest leverage inputs and outputs regional leaders can use consistently to drive attainment of their goals 
  • Coach coaches to consistently identify their highest leverage and prioritized actions in alignment with their goals 
  
Coordinate region-wide contract services 
  • Determine the need for various related service contracts needed for students in the region and vet potential service providers 
  •  Oversees the onboarding and training of all contract service personnel working in schools in the region 
   
Supervisory Responsibilities:  Regional Special Programs Coach(es), Lead LSSP, Lead SLP 
  
What You Bring – Competencies 
Qualifications:  
  • Education:   Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred 
  • Experience:    
  • At least 2 years of successful teacher experience required   
  • Proven success with Special Education student achievement   
  • ELA content knowledge a plus   
  • Direct Instruction Decoding program knowledge preferred   
  • Certification: valid in-state teaching certificate required; special education teaching certificate preferred 
  
Knowledge and Skills:  
  • Strong regional business partnerships required   
  • Strong instructional coaching required (ELA preferred)

Compensation & Benefits: 
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $98,200 and $115,900, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
