 CORE is a global humanitarian relief and recovery organization that seeks to build resilience for our partners in low-income communities across all our programs. We operate public health, emergency preparedness, health resilience, and disaster recovery programs across the US and internationally.
 
Position Overview
The Referral Focal Point for CORE Sudan Response will join a fast paced and dynamic team based in Port Sudan, Khartoum and remotely, supporting emergency and disaster response programs. To date, CORE Sudan is focused on providing cash transfer assistance. This position will work closely with the Program Manager, MEAL Specialist, CVA lead, and international and local partners to develop and maintain referral pathways, networks, and supports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development and maintenance of service mapping and referral pathways.
  • Liaise with partner organizations to establish safe and confidential referral pathways for CVA recipients requiring additional support services.
  • Conduct regular field visits, including house to house visits when appropriate to ensure children and adults who are receiving CVA monitor the quality of activities and adherence to CORE & CCS standards.
  • Work directly with households receiving CVA to support with identifying needs for additional services.
  • Provide technical input and support the integration and links between case management and other program activities, including, but not limited to, protection services, psychosocial support, legal services, health services, education, etc.
  • In collaboration with the MEAL Officer and with the support of the Program Manager, facilitate the participation and feedback of women, men, boys and girls assisted through cash & voucher (CVA) activities.
  • Inform the Program Manger about any challenges, difficulties, and concerns in the implementation of activities or issues in the social context.
  • Coordinate all referral needs with the Sudan Cash Consortium to ensure harmonized implementation.
  • Support the development best practice papers and lessons learned reports to ensure innovations are documented and integrated into future programs.
  • Contribute to regular area wide program reporting with the Director of Program Data and team.

  • Identify, build and manage collaborative partnerships with consortium partners, sub-grantees, donors, local governments and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure overall beneficiary obligations are met.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure overall project targets and donor obligations are met.

  • Security
  • Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.
  • Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies.
  • Represent CORE at selected community events

  • Other duties as assigned

Scope and Travel:

  • Travel within Sudan for community events and partner meetings.
  • Potential regional travel outside Sudan.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
  • Desired: Master’s degree in social work or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years in social work / protection, preferably in the public or non-profit sector
  • Demonstrated experience in case management or social work
  • Familiarity with community-based organizations
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High EQ; demonstrated success in managing diverse teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Work proactively with little supervision
  • Flexible and adaptive to a frequently changing environment
  • Strong project management, leadership and organizational skills
  • Close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Bilingual in English and Arabic is essential
