POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief seeks a Recruitment & Student Support Specialist for the DuPage and Aurora regions. World Relief in DuPage and Aurora serves adult students at every stage of their language learning journey, including career specific language classes, job readiness for newly arrived refugees and asylees, leveled general English class, and literacy and schooling support. The role of the Recruitment & Student Support Specialist is to oversee community canvasing and build student awareness (recruitment), provide student transportation and client communication, assist with student registrations and orientations, and support translation projects and student success supports. Other duties involved in the role include serving as a Classroom Aide supporting the Workforce Readiness Class for newly arrived refugees (and other classes as enrollment needs necessitate).
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Registration Support (10% of time):
- Assist Student Support Services team in registering prospective students for English language classes, both online and in-person, through intake completion and orientation support
- Assist with providing classroom orientations to new students as needed by the Support team
- As needed, receive training in intake and assessment, including NRS reporting standards
- Recruitment (10% of time):
- Advertise English classes to the community through various recruitment initiatives
- Print and distribute flyers and other informational materials at advertising locations and community events
- Attend community events to promote Adult Education programs
- Utilize social media and digital marketing techniques to endorse the Adult Education program
- Develop new, creative, and effective recruitment initiatives in collaboration with various departments at World Relief
- Regularly update community partners and encourage organizations to refer potential students to register for World Relief English classes
- Coordinate guest speakers and special events
- Transportation & Translation Support (15%):
- Provide student transportation to in-person English classes, as scheduled
- Assist with contacting students about routes and class scheduling
- Assist with translation/interpretation projects and needs
- Classroom Aide Support (65%):
- Attend Workforce Readiness Class 2-4 days a week, depending on instructor needs, from 8:30AM-12:30PM
- Coordinate with the WRC instructor to serve overall objectives and provide 1-1 and small group support as requested
- Assist with resource and activity creation
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Bi-lingual language skills required
- Associate degree or equivalent required, further education highly preferred
- Access to own transportation to commute to/between work sites in DuPage and Aurora areas
- At least 2 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous involvement with educational programs strongly preferred
- Experience in advertising/marketing or recruiting is preferred
- Experience in living and/or working in cross-cultural environment preferred
- Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to handle multiple tasks and keep deadlines
- Strong organizing and coordinating skills
- Ability to work independently
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Flexible and adaptable
- Able to work some evening and Saturday hours
