Primary Function of Position
The primary objective for this person is to lead warehouse functional area(s). This individual has significant experience in warehouse operations, technical skills (equipment operation, counting, space utilization, handling efficiency), in-depth knowledge of ISI's inventory management systems and software (Agile, SAP, WMS), strong interpersonal and communication skills. This person would work closely with fellow team members, Engineers and the supervisor to achieve team performance goals in the areas of safety, quality, and performance. Goals are set in each of these areas for each quarter and overall team performance is measured against them.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Receiving: Receiving materials, physically and systemically, to be used in production operations and engineering projects.
- Parts Put-away: Physically and systemically moving approved Production materials from IQC staging areas into SMKT storage locations. (Totes and Bulk)
- Supermarket (SMKT)
- Parts Replenishment: Point-of-use parts replenishment for designated production lines.
- MT: Fulfilling and transacting MT requests, received either electronically or via hard copy.
- Sales Order Fulfillment: Fulfilling and transacting Sales Orders and Service Transfer Orders.
- SPP Kitting: Production parts replenishment via SPP kitting.
- Packout: Packing System carts, FRUs and kits.
- Responsibilities: Monitor team-member performance (safety, quality, performance, attendance) and escalate issues to management as needed.
- Create and distribute daily warehouse reports that includes performance to plan, quality issues, and equipment issues.
- Establish goals for each functional area and coordinate job rotations.
- Prepare and present weekly warehouse data during weekly Warehouse management walk-through
- Frequently interacts with management and other functional groups involving cross functional matters. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.
- Cross-train or mentor others in areas of expertise (as needed).
- Monitor job rotation on the production lines to comply with ergonomic requirements
- Participate in training meetings and provide training plan for employees to ensure job rotation.
- Is seen as expert and mentor. Influences and models best leadership, where others "follow" and are not "managed". Often called to lead efforts or projects without oversight.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives with Engineering and Quality teams
- Support various Lean Manufacturing initiatives that involve a warehouse based team.
- Review and disposition discrepant material. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
- Review existing operational and process discrepancies in the warehouse and provide technical expertise to improve procedures
- Follow all corporate, regulatory, safety and production policies and procedures.
- Maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Support goals for respective warehouse cell.
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training
- Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of Material Handling experience or a minimum of 1 year of manufacturing warehouse/assembly ISI experience.
- Prefer Intuitive Surgical Material Handler 3 or Tech 4 but must be in good standing for at least the past 12 months or as determined by area Production Manager. Areas that will be considered are: attendance, conduct, productivity, teamwork, and quality.
- Proficient in Agile and/or SAP
- Proficient in training/mentoring other Material Handlers
- Inventory control experience (cycle counting, physical inventories) preferred.
- Proficient at quality record documentation
- Ability to lift material up to 50 lbs.
- Experience and/or certification in operating material-handling equipment preferred.
- Extensive walking and repetitive physical motion (squatting, bending, lifting, climbing ladders) is required.
- Demonstrates leadership and communication ability
- Demonstrates understanding of basic operational principles of assemblies upon which training has been completed
- Demonstrates ability to diagnose possible root cause failure modes of warehouse transactions
- Must be recommended for promotion from the area Warehouse Manager and Management team. Promotion approval may be subject to interview process.

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
