Real Estate & Municipal Affairs Lead, Site Acquisition

The role
Reporting to the Manager, Site Acquisition, you will be responsible for activities related to the leasing, approvals and authorization of network build sites and real estate maintenance of wireless coverage and capacity sites for Freedom Mobile. You will also be responsible for negotiations and management associated with select markets of Freedom Mobile’s wireless network within the province of Alberta. You will work closely with various cross-functional teams within Freedom Mobile’s organization, including Civil Engineering, R.F. Engineering, Transmission Engineering, as well as the Project Management Office.

A typical day

  • Research, establish contact, negotiate and lease both tower and rooftop sites for usage in Freedom Mobile’s wireless network.
  • Arrange and attend site visits with Freedom’s multidisciplinary team.
  • Negotiate and prepare upgrade amendments and renewals for existing wireless sites.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Permit and Municipal Affairs team to assist in securing all necessary permits and other Authorizations to build.
  • Work with Legal and Government Relations departments for regular approval and escalation matters.
  • Communicate with landlords regarding renewals, access or other issues.
  • Create and foster strong relationships with other Freedom Mobile and Videotron business units to promote one voice of Freedom-Videotron outside the organization.
  • Endeavor to keep real estate finances, capital budgets, operating budgets, forecasts, and on-going projects on track.
  • Establish and report on assigned market delivery milestone metrics.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Site Acquisition and Municipal Affairs, in telecommunications industry;
  • University degree in Business, Real Estate, Planning or related field/experience;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate (written and spoken) in French is an asset
  • Superior negotiation skills;
  • Self-sufficient with the strong ability to adapt to change quickly;
  • Leadership, autonomy, initiative, efficiency;
  • Excellent time/priority management skills;
  • Self-motivated, possessing team spirit and committing to creating a positive working culture;
  • Knowledge of wireless network operations.
