The RCCTO Liaison stationed at the Pentagon is a key role that specializes in the advancement and integration of new and emerging Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (cUAS) technologies within the Department of Defense (DoD). This position serves as the primary point of contact between the RCCTO and various defense and intelligence agencies, ensuring effective coordination of cUAS-related efforts across the U.S. military and other governmental entities. The liaison is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and facilitating the adoption of innovative cUAS technologies that address evolving threats from unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This role requires a deep understanding of both the technical and strategic aspects of cUAS systems, as well as the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and collaborate across various stakeholders. 

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies within a critical and rapidly evolving field, supporting the security and operational effectiveness of the U.S. military and its allies. This is a full-time role located in Washington DC. Available upon award (expected November 2024).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Liaison: Act as the primary technical and strategic liaison between RCCTO and other DoD organizations, industry partners, and research entities focused on cUAS technologies.
  • Emerging Technologies Evaluation: Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging cUAS technologies and solutions, providing expert recommendations for integration into existing and future defense systems.
  • Integration Support: Collaborate with program offices, military services, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of cUAS capabilities into operational environments, including testing, training, and deployment.
  • Threat Assessment: Contribute to the assessment of evolving UAS threats and provide technical guidance on countermeasure development and implementation strategies.
  • Policy and Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of policies, strategies, and acquisition plans related to cUAS technologies, ensuring alignment with DoD objectives and security requirements.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Facilitate regular communication and coordination between internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities and progress across cUAS projects.
  • Project Management: Lead or support cross-functional teams in the development, testing, and deployment of cUAS systems and solutions, managing timelines, deliverables, and resources effectively.
  • Reporting and Briefing: Prepare technical reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership, providing updates on cUAS technology developments, project milestones, and emerging threats.

Key Tasks:

  • Stay informed on the latest trends and developments in cUAS technologies and relevant policy initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-agency efforts to assess and implement cUAS capabilities.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of technical evaluations and reports to senior leadership.
  • Engage with industry partners to foster collaboration on the development and refinement of cUAS solutions.
  • Support operational testing of cUAS technologies and provide recommendations for field deployment.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Defense Technology, or a related technical field is desired but 15 years of military service and experience in cUAS and Electronic Warfare could be assessed for equivalancy
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience in defense technology, UAS/cUAS, or related fields, with a strong understanding of cUAS systems, technologies, and countermeasure strategies.
    • Experience working with DoD agencies, defense contractors, or similar governmental organizations is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), counter-UAS systems, radar, electro-optical systems, RF jamming technologies, and other relevant defense technologies.
    • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, testing protocols, and integration challenges related to cUAS technologies.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present technical reports and briefings to senior military and civilian leaders.
  • Security Clearance:
    • Must hold or be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. Secret clearance required to start.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in program management or project leadership, particularly in defense technology acquisition and integration.
  • Familiarity with ongoing DoD cUAS initiatives and strategic goals related to UAS countermeasures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proven track record of problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
