RAICo Senior Technician

The RAICo Senior Technician oversees and conducts the wiring, modification, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of electromechanical remote handling equipment. Additionally, they are tasked with setting up, testing, and developing project mock-up requirements promptly and to a high standard of quality. In this role you will operate, test, and set up robotic systems, meeting high-quality standards and deadlines. You will ensure maintenance adherence to RAICo equipment and systems, promptly addressing faults and repairs.

    We seek a self-motivated individual who is willing to work collaboratively with the RAICo Workhall Section Leader to prioritize tasks, tackle challenges, and step in as a deputy when necessary.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Contribute to RAICo projects by engaging in research and development of new equipment, while effectively communicating and addressing potential issues within the project team.
    • Deliver high-quality work within specified deadlines.
    • Ensure adherence to relevant risk assessments and procedures for safe operations within RAICo facilities and work areas.
    • Oversee maintenance according to specifications for RAICo equipment and systems.
    • Take ownership of professional development, setting personal objectives, completing APS reports, and fulfilling UKAEA mandatory training requirements.

    Essential Requirements:

    • A relevant engineering degree /HND or HNC/ apprenticeship or equivalent with significant industry experience
    • Ability to understand and work from drawings and schematics
    • Flexible working attitude able to work as an individual or as a team member
    • Experience of operating in a collaborative environment, with partners and suppliers

    Please note that this role is based in Cumbria, Travel to and working at other UKAEA sites is expected to be required

    Desirable:

    • Experience of operation and maintenance of robots or remote handling equipment.
    • Experience of working in a safety-dominated working environment.
    • Experience in people management.
