Communications Support Engineer  

Working Hours - Monday - Friday 37.50 (between 8.00 AM - 6.00 PM) 

Must have full UK Driving License 

We are looking for someone with 2nd Line Radio Services experience, including maintenance and fault resolution. This is a fast-paced environment, so it is essential that you can manage a changing list of priorities. 

This position is based in Chippenham, Wiltshire – providing 2nd Line support for national radio contracts. Flexibility for On-call Rota and Overtime hours when required. 

Due to the nature of this role successful applicant must ideally have current SC clearance including CTC Enhanced Level 2 or be eligible to obtain those clearances. 

Purpose of the role: 

This is a significant role within our Managed Solutions team. 

This role reports into the Radio Team manager and forms part of a Managed Solutions team. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Provide customer support to end users to triage faults/issues 

• Providing 2nd line technical support to field based engineers relating to radio faults 

• Provides technical support for the development, construction, maintenance and optimization of radio networks. 

• Installing, configuring and testing radio network equipment and software components. 

• Undertake repairs of various handheld and rack mounted radio equipment. 

• Attend customer sites to perform site surveys, system maintenance, assist with fault finding/repair or project work as necessary. 

• To partake in Out of Hours telephone support as part of a rota. 

 

Our ideal candidate will have/be: 

• 2nd Line Radio repair experience including maintenance and Fault resolution 

• Antenna, PMR installation and decommissioning.  

• Experience of Tetra, microwave and DMR systems, including cell enhancement and repeater systems. 

• Personal and on-site Health safety 

• Liaision with and co-ordination of both Client and 3rd Party contractors. 

• Good understanding of Microsoft Windows and Unix based systems. 

• General awareness of RF and electronic test equipment. 

• Understanding of IP networks/LAN
