The Radiation Oncology Office Assistance provides secretarial and clerical support to the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Core Competencies
- Receives incoming telephone calls, responds to routine inquires, and routes calls to the appropriate personnel.
- Schedules patients for consultations, follow-up examinations and any other tests.
- Coordinates clinic schedule with M.D. and staff schedules.
- Investigates insurance validity and obtains pre-authorization when required.
- Files and scans all paper elements of patient records on a daily basis.
- Receives patients, families, visitors and vendors.
- Opens, sorts and distributes mail to appropriate personnel.
- Checks for the completion of physician's consultation and follow up examinations.
- Reviews physicians consultation and follow up charges in EMR.
Department Specific Competencies
- Orders office supplies or informs appropriate staff of supplies needing replenishment.
- Reviews and validates daily facility and professional charges in Cerner and ICS.
- Receives intake phone calls from outside physician referrals and coordinate patient's schedule.
- Responsible for any general tasks with insurance companies related to patient's treatments (ie. authorizations, eligibility, etc.).
