This role is an integral part of GreenLight’s nucleic acid foundry, supporting discovery teams and working closely with process development, analytical, bioinformatics, and data management teams. You will collaborate with the biological assay teams to understand sample performance and perform any needed troubleshooting.
This role requires a versatile skill set, including expertise in molecular biology techniques and basic analytical methods. You will be assisting with multiple internal projects and external collaborations. You will also get extensive training in synthesizing, purifying, analyzing and characterizing biomolecules.

Responsibilities
- Train on and execute molecular biology techniques, such as Gibson and Golden gate assembly, bacterial cell culture, nucleic acids purification, PCR, IVT, etc. for sample generation at different scales.
- Utilize a wide spectrum of purification methods to purify nucleic acids (SPE, SPRI, UF/DF, TFF, etc.).
- Train on and execute analytical tests to characterize nucleic acids using a number of assays, including Capillary Electrophoresis, HPLC, spectrophotometry, etc. using state-of-the-art analytical instruments.
- Execute and troubleshoot high throughput workflows for sample generation and sample analytics using liquid handling automation platforms.
- Keep thorough and timely records of lab activity.
- Present key results to technical teams.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
Requirements / Qualifications / About You
- Masters in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Chemical engineering, Bioengineering or related disciplines with 2+ years of industry experience. Strong candidates with Bachelors in related disciplines with 4+ years of experience will also be considered.
- Experience with standard molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, electrophoresis, SPRI, SPE, etc.) and working with RNA.
- Experience with chromatography and separation techniques (AKTA, TFF, HPLC, buffer preparation).
- Previous experience with nucleic acid synthesis and purification preferred.
- Excellent data management and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instruction, learn fast, prioritize, and pivot in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using LIMS required, experience with LabVantage preferred.
- Hands-on experience in liquid handling automation platforms/instruments (Hamilton, TECAN, KingFisher, etc.) and open-access chromatography systems is a plus.
- You can learn quickly and work fast, and you pay attention to details. You are careful and diligent about good documentation practices and keeping things organized while moving at a rapid pace.
