Quality Operations Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Operations Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing the quality assurance of recruitment activities across Our Future Health clinics located throughout the UK. The Quality Operations Manager will ensure alignment of the quality operation team’s procedures and processes with broader organisational activities.

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

Our plan is to bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK who will be asked to contribute information to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people’s health. Researchers will be able to use this information to make new discoveries about human health and diseases. So future generations can live in good health for longer.

What you’ll be doing

In this role you will contribute to the broader operational strategy as part of the senior leadership team, collaborating with other team leads to drive cross-functional initiatives. Your key responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:  

  • Responsible for setting the roadmap, priorities, delivery and continuous improvement activities for the Quality Operations team. 
  • Lead and manage the Quality Operations team, providing line management and oversight for Quality Operations Coordinators. 
  • Management and oversight of all aspects of quality assurance including but not limited to, training, calibration, standard operating procedures and documentation for recruitment partners. 
  • Provide guidance on management of corrective actions, non-conformances and quality governance activities with all recruitment partners. 
  • Oversee and lead on improvements made to team systems such as the electronic Quality Management System (eQMS) and dashboards monitoring quality of data at all recruitment sites. 
  • Act as the key point of contact for Our Future Health operational quality.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality assurance processes to ensure accurate and complete data are collected for Our Future Health. 
  • Participate in internal governance meetings, providing support in risk identification, risk mitigation through review of data and quality control processes. Provide guidance for process improvements. 
  • Grow and scale the Quality team to an appropriate size to ensure quality assurance coverage across all clinics recruiting in the UK.
  • Ensure quality metrics are available and can be used to effectively manage performance of sites. 
  • Monitor and report on clinical and operational risks as part of our corporate and operational level risk management processes.
  • Demonstrate support of organisational compliance requirements, including policies, procedures, and controls.

Requirements

You will have some of the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience in clinical research either in an academic or commercial setting.
  • Life sciences degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Experience in Quality, Compliance or Governance within a clinical research or academic setting. 
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance and monitoring processes in clinical research.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including capacity to manage a team, motivate colleagues and inspire effective teamwork. 
  • Working knowledge and experience of the UK clinical research environment as well as understanding of population research and cohort studies. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, with the ability to effectively interact with people at all levels. 
  • Proven ability to multi-task with excellent organisational and time management skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clearly articulated processes.
